Chapter 77

In the depths of the palace, towering, majestic figures surrounded them, their eyes resting on the assembled humans.

Among them, a stern and dignified goddess gazed directly at Qin Xian, her brows slightly furrowed. Her expression was complex—filled with awe and contemplation, but above all, caution.

As everyone regained clarity, the goddess’s voice echoed through the hall, resonating with a holy intensity that made everyone instinctively wish to kneel.

“I am Marika, the Eternal Queen, ruler of the Hall of the Gods and deity of this world.” After she spoke, other gods began introducing themselves in turn.

“I am Kenqi, the God of War, once revered by the ancient empire.”

“I am Elune, Goddess of the Moon!”

“I am Mandus, God of the Forest!”

One by one, the gods spoke, their ethereal voices filling the Hall. To humans, these divine tones were so beautiful, so pure, that many could not resist kneeling in reverence. Only Qin Xian, Qin Li, and Chu Junzhang remained standing, their expressions calm and composed.

Seeing these three remain standing, Marika’s brows furrowed slightly, but she soon relaxed, speaking in an even tone, “You have cleared the Broken Heaven dungeon and defeated 【Void Warlord Kar’eg】.

This achievement grants you the right to receive blessings from the Hall of the Gods. However, the type of blessing you receive depends on whether you pass a test. The dreams you just experienced were that test.”

A trace of sorrow crossed her face. “This world has been shattered, and we have long awaited the arrival of the Child of Prophecy. According to legend, only the Child of Prophecy can save our world.”

“Only those who can repel the Void invasion and save the empire in the dream are qualified to be the Child of Prophecy.”

At these words, most people’s faces reflected regret, as they had all failed. In their dreams, the ancient empire was overrun by the Void, mirroring the current state of reality.

Marika spoke solemnly, “For a thousand years, countless individuals have undergone this trial, yet none have passed. None could repel the Void in their dream… until this time.”

Her gaze turned to Qin Xian, filled with complexity. “This time, two individuals passed the trial. In their dreams, they repelled the Void invasion and saved the empire…”

In the next instant, Qin Xian found himself standing at the center of the Hall. At the same time, across from him, Ye Xuan’s figure also slowly materialized. Qin Xian’s eyes narrowed slightly as he took in Ye Xuan’s appearance.

He had guessed correctly—the gods had indeed saved Ye Xuan, allowing him to undergo the trial and earn the chance to receive divine blessings.

Ye Xuan looked back at Qin Xian calmly, observing him.

“They have both passed the trial of the Hall of the Gods!” Marika announced in a powerful voice.

In the center of the Hall, a circular mirror appeared, displaying Qin Xian and Ye Xuan’s choices in their respective dreams.

In his dream, Qin Xian had become emperor, embodying a cold, emotionless logic. Every choice he made was calculated for the greatest benefit, the most reasonable path. And indeed, he succeeded—under his leadership, the empire repelled the Void within a mere hundred years.

After driving out the Void, Qin Xian’s empire grew increasingly powerful, expanding rapidly and conquering other worlds through brutal wars, suppressing and enslaving other races. Under his rule, the ancient empire cast its light across multiple realms, becoming the strongest force in the universe.

Silence filled the Hall as everyone witnessed Qin Xian’s cold and ruthless strategies. They could not deny that, from the perspective of an emperor, Qin Xian seemed almost perfectly suited for the role. He was, in every sense, a ruler without emotion—like a calculating machine.

After repelling the Void, the ancient empire under Qin Xian’s rule grew even stronger, expanding rapidly.

His empire launched invasions into other worlds, waging brutal wars, and ruthlessly subjugating the races they encountered. The empire’s influence spread its radiance to countless realms, becoming the most formidable power in the universe.

Seeing this unfold, those in the Hall fell silent, struck by Qin Xian’s ruthlessness. There was no denying it—when it came to ruling an empire, Qin Xian was an ideal emperor. He was, in essence, a machine devoid of empathy.

On the other hand, Ye Xuan’s dream presented a completely different picture.

When the Void invaded, Ye Xuan personally took to the front lines, sharing meals and hardships with his soldiers. His commitment earned their respect and devotion.

He cared deeply for his people, even showing kindness to the poorest among them, willing to hold their hands and listen to their pleas. The war against the Void was harsh, and although the ancient empire suffered significant losses under Ye Xuan’s leadership, it never truly crumbled.

Countless individuals willingly followed Ye Xuan, prepared to face death by his side.

The war dragged on for a thousand years. Despite the ancient empire losing much of its territory, Ye Xuan’s guidance ensured they never surrendered.

In the end, Ye Xuan led the empire until the Divine Revelation’s will descended. Choosing self-sacrifice, he transformed himself into a living spirit of the empire, sealing off every Void rift. Peace was thus restored to the ancient empire.

Watching Ye Xuan’s dream, Qin Xian shook his head, a trace of disdain flashing across his face. To him, the choice of self-sacrifice was nothing but foolish.

These two vastly different dreams left everyone in the Hall deeply shaken. Qin Xian and Ye Xuan were like two extremes.

In Qin Xian’s vision, he sat as a distant emperor, high above, never engaging directly with his people or soldiers. Instead, he sat alone on his throne, coldly processing reports and making calculated, ruthless decisions that yielded the most advantageous results.

Citizens, soldiers, and even ministers were mere pawns in his eyes, expendable and easily manipulated.

After defeating the Void, he immediately began to emulate its methods, invading and enslaving other worlds. Under his rule, the ancient empire became powerful and prosperous—almost a mirror of the Void itself.

In contrast, Ye Xuan was more a hero than a ruler. He loved his people and was willing to shed blood for them. His selflessness earned him the people’s loyalty and admiration. Ultimately, he sacrificed himself for the good of the empire and its countless citizens.

Everyone was deeply moved by Ye Xuan’s dream. If they had to choose two words to describe Qin Xian and Ye Xuan, it would be that Qin Xian was fearsome, while Ye Xuan was admirable.
