Chapter 766: Golden Thread Stabbing Gu Yang’s Back

Gu Yang’s heart nearly leaped out of her throat in shock. Without hesitation, she dashed into the musical instrument shop.

In a sudden clarity, Gu Jin’s eyes focused, and the silver needle in her grasp swiveled, aimed at the foreigner.

Surprise flickered across the foreigner’s eyes as he swiftly shoved the drum set forward, positioning himself in front of Gu Jin.

A brawl erupted between Gu Jin and the foreigner, musical instruments becoming impromptu shields for Gu Jin.

Witnessing Gu Jin snap out of her trance, Gu Yang breathed a sigh of relief.

However, as she observed the other patrons still engaged in perilous behaviors, her brow furrowed in concern.

It was evident they were ensnared in a hypnotic state.

The preceding drumbeat had proven dangerously potent, amplifying all negative emotions and exacerbating anxiety, pain, and psychological trauma.

For those with prior trauma, susceptibility was heightened.

Gu Jin fell prey to it, but her SS-rank Mutant status offered some resilience. With external interference, she could either deliberate or dispel the hypnotic illusion.

However, ordinary individuals lacked such potent abilities.

Fearing for lives, Gu Yang knew she had to act swiftly. Witnessing Gu Jin effortlessly contending with the black foreigner, she made her way to the piano in the shop. Seating herself, her fingers danced across the keys.

Recalling the drumbeat’s melody, she swiftly echoed it.

As Gu Yang replicated the tune, the patrons ceased their perilous behaviors, though their expressions remained vacant, as if frozen in time.

Midst the scuffle, the black foreigner caught wind of the piano’s melody, his gaze snapping toward Gu Yang.

With a subtle movement of his fingertips, the large golden bracelet on his wrist unleashed a golden thread, hurtling toward Gu Yang.

“Sis! Dodge!”

Amidst her duel, Gu Jin couldn’t divert her attention, so she could only shout out a warning.

Yet Gu Yang persisted, her fingers a blur across the piano keys. She understood that halting her performance would resume the others’ suicidal actions.

This hypnotist was very strong.

That level of skill was comparable to Tally’s, if not surpassing it.

Just as the golden thread threatened to impale Gu Yang, a gunshot rang out, shattering the thread instantly.

The broken pieces fell to the ground, while the remainder recoiled toward the black man.

Gu Jin’s gaze flicked to the door, where Xiao Yize, clad in a black windbreaker, entered, wielding a firearm. Behind him, a group of SWAT officers in black swiftly encircled the black man.

Forced back against the French window, the black man smashed through the glass, fleeing into the street as the SWAT team closed in.

Gu Jin and Xiao Yize pursued him, but as they reached a bridge spanning the river, the black man leaped from the bridge, plunging into the churning waters below.

With a steely gaze, Xiao Yize ordered a perimeter to be established and a search initiated.

Turning to Gu Jin, his concern evident, he inquired, “Miss Gu, are you unharmed?”

Gu Jin shook her head. “I’m alright. Thank you for your help back there.”

She couldn’t bear to think of what might have befallen her sister had Xiao Yize not intervened.

Returning to the instrument shop, they found Gu Yang slumped over the piano, utterly drained.

It took twenty repetitions of playing the melody in reverse to break everyone out of the trance.

The shop was in disarray, instruments scattered haphazardly.

The bewildered shop owner surveyed the chaos, having regained consciousness to find his establishment ransacked.

Similarly dazed, the customers who had been in a trance had no recollection of the events that transpired.
