Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Unearthing a Mutated Spirit Base
"This is… a coffin…" Lin Shen saw clearly the object beneath, and his surprise intensified.
It was known that the Giant God Cemetery was literally a mass burial site, where the buried Giant God Clan, their skeletons mostly decayed in the mud, didn\'t have coffins or anything of the sort.
Nobody knew how many years they had been buried here, but most bones had long since decayed completely, which is why the number of Giant God\'s Bones unearthed wasn\'t high.
The Spirit Base, due to its immortal nature, usually had no problems despite being buried in the silt for such a long time.
Coffins, especially in the Giant God Cemetery, were rare to begin with, let alone this coffin, which was made from Crystal Base material, exquisitely crafted, and even carved with many strange symbols that didn\'t look like common goods.
"Are we really this lucky?" Lin Shen looked around, only a few hundred meters away another of the Other Races was digging, with most others having gone deeper into the canyon.
This area had been dug up so much that most people considered it unlikely to yield any more Giant God bones, which is why they went to dig farther away.
Yun was quite excited, but she also knew such matters shouldn\'t be broadcasted, so she kept her mouth shut, her hands gripping her clothes\' edges, trembling with excitement.
Lin Shen had the Black Crystal Stoneman open the coffin lid directly, and immediately a foul stench emanated out.
Inside the coffin was black water, probably from when a river used to flow here and water had gotten into the coffin.
"It\'s all soaked like this, the bones are definitely gone, and who knows if there\'s a Spirit Base. If it\'s made of Crystal Base material, it might even be Crystal Base Level..." Lin Shen ordered the Black Crystal Stoneman to reach into the coffin to fish something out.
Soon enough, the Black Crystal Stoneman really did fish out something, pulling its arms from the stinking black water of the coffin.
Lin Shen glanced at Yun, who was standing beside him with her hands over her mouth, watching the contents of the coffin excitedly, with no other thoughts on her mind; he then turned back to take a closer look at what the Black Crystal Stoneman had fished out.
"What is this? An umbrella?" Lin Shen saw what the black stoneman had pulled out; it looked like a closed umbrella, pitch black like ink jade, with faint red glimmers seeping through.
Lin Shen took out a water flask from his backpack and rinsed it, confirming that it indeed was an umbrella-shaped Spirit Base.
The umbrella, as black as ink jade, had blood-red fine lines, and that touch of red light was emitted by those crimson lines.
The Giant Ring Star\'s wristwatch showed no reaction, but the mechanical one vibrated, Lin Shen hurriedly checked his watch, and a notification about discovering a Spirit Base popped up.
The functions of the mechanical watch were clearly much more powerful than those of an ordinary transporter watch.
"Discovered a Fourth Turn mutated Spirit Base, the Yin Spirit Umbrella…"
"A Fourth Turn mutated Spirit Base!" Lin Shen was both shocked and elated, not expecting to land such a big find right off the bat.
Mutated Spirit Bases, such rare finds, were worth a lot more than ordinary Spirit Bases.
It was a pity that Lin Shen wasn\'t at Ascension Level yet, so he couldn\'t activate the Spirit Base; otherwise he could have checked what attribute it had, and if it possessed any innate abilities.
"Yun, well done, do you want the Spirit Base, or would you prefer something else?" Lin Shen, while putting the Yin Spirit Umbrella into his backpack, asked Yun.
"If it\'s possible, could you give me some Crystal Base Level mutation fluid? If that\'s inconvenient, giving me some money is also fine," Yun spoke cautiously.
"No problem, take this Base Mutation Fluid for now. Once we get out, I\'ll give you double the mutation Base Mutation Fluid," Lin Shen took out the remaining bag of Mutation Fluid he had and handed it to Yun.
This stuff was of no use to him now. The small amount that Yun was asking for meant little to Lin Shen.
"Thank you." Yun was both surprised and delighted. Although she had resolutely chosen to cooperate with Lin Shen and seemed firm, she was actually very afraid inside. It was just because she had no other choice and had to seek cooperation with someone else.
Now that Lin Shen had found the Spirit Base and generously given her the Mutation Fluid, it had set her mind at ease quite a bit.
Little did she know that what she had found for Lin Shen was the Fourth Turn mutated Spirit Base, far more valuable than a few bags of Mutation Fluid.
Lin Shen had the Black Crystal Stoneman search in the coffin for a while longer, but nothing else was found; the bones had long dissolved.
The Black Crystal Stoneman then closed the coffin lid again, filled some of the dug-up black mud back in until the coffin was no longer visible, and then left to continue searching for Spirit Bases.
With the first success, Lin Shen gained more confidence in Yun\'s ability, and his tone became much gentler.
"Yun, why did you come to Giant Ring Star alone? Where\'s your family?" Lin Shen asked casually as they walked forward.
"There\'s no one left at home. My mom is from the Moon Rabbit Clan, and my dad is from the Spirit Treasure Clan. They were visiting my grandfather on Moon Rabbit Star when the Moon Rabbit Star disappearance incident occurred. Now I\'m the only one left at home." When Yun mentioned her family, her initially excited mood disappeared immediately, but she still smiled and said, "Being alone is quite good.
I can go wherever I want, with no one to control me, no one to restrain me, and no one to scold me anymore."
It was then that Lin Shen remembered that Red Heart A had sent him a video of the Moon Rabbit Queen dancing, which mentioned the mystery of the Moon Rabbit Clan\'s disappearance.
Only after hearing Yun did Lin Shen realize that it was not just the Moon Rabbit Clan that had vanished, but the entire mother star of the Moon Rabbit Clan.
"How did Moon Rabbit Star disappear?" Lin Shen did not offer any comfort to Yun.
Almost every day a species goes extinct somewhere in the universe; it is not unusual.
Just as on the Human mother planet, countless species have gone extinct, and no matter how much goodwill Lin Shen had, he could not change anything.
Unless he could become a Star Lord of a planet, possessing absolute control over it, might he then truly be able to do something about it.
As the two continued to look for Spirit Bases, they also talked a bit about the Moon Rabbit Clan.
Yun didn\'t have much information about the disappearance of the Moon Rabbit Clan. At the time, she stayed on the Spirit Treasure Clan\'s planet and did not follow her parents to Moon Rabbit Star, which was why she had survived the calamity.
"By the way, is your Moon Rabbit Clan skilled in dancing?" Lin Shen suddenly asked a question.
Yun was taken aback, "Dancing? What kind of dance?"
"Any kind of dance. Don\'t you usually dance?" Lin Shen said as if it was a casual remark.
Yun looked puzzled as she answered, "I heard from my mom that a long time ago, our Clan was colonized by Other Races for a period. That race turned the people of the Moon Rabbit Clan into dancers for their amusement and as gifts, never treating the Moon Rabbits as people.
After the Moon Rabbit Clan gained independence and was no longer enslaved, the memory of that period became a source of deep shame. While there was no explicit ban on dancing, on Moon Rabbit Star, absolutely no one would teach dancing nor would anyone dance."
"I\'m sorry, I wasn\'t aware of the history of the Moon Rabbit Clan and didn\'t mean to bring it up," Lin Shen apologized in haste but couldn\'t help wondering, "If the Moon Rabbit Clan is so averse to dancing, why would there be a video of the Moon Rabbit Queen dancing? Could it be that the one in the video was not actually the Moon Rabbit Queen?"
