Chapter 48 - 48: The Restart Task with Upgraded Difficulty

Chapter Forty-Eight: The Elevated Difficulty of the Restart Task

In the crowd, Cora Franklin, looking at Finn Lewis on top his car, regretted so much that her intestines were almost green. How could this have happened?! Why did this happen?! She was dumbfounded. How did a dirt poor guy suddenly become rich? And not just rich, but the kind of rich where you can throw away tens of millions without batting an eye?

If she had chosen not to leave him before, even if she broke up with him half a month later than she did, wouldn’t she be able to buy whatever she wants now? The car Finn Lewis was driving, Cora knew about it because Finn had told her it was his dream car, almost four million bucks!

Back then, Cora had only laughed at Finn’s daydream. But now, that car was under Finn’s feet! Judging by his carefree look, it was obvious he didn’t consider the car as anything special!

But it’s too late for regrets now! And it’s not only that she didn’t benefit from anything, she got so tired of Yuri Lucas that he started annoying her. Clearly, her reputation at the university is ruined; who would dare to approach her now?

Cora regretted so much it hurt. Watching Finn standing there, Cora was secretly determined – no matter what the cost, she would step on him once again and make him kneel before her feet!

Of course, Finn didn’t notice the resentful stare from the crowd. Even if he had noticed, Finn couldn’t care less. The Finn Lewis of now was completely beyond Cora Franklin.

Taking pleasure in Robert Thomp’s misfortune, Finn was delighted. After feeling happy, he went out with several of his roommates for some fun, although he didn’t participate in the late-night activities. Finn paid the money, but he didn’t attend. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to participate, but, he was currently experiencing a tragic sex-drive lockdown phase. There was no point in participating.

Returning to his room, before Finn could ask Zero for anything, Zero’s voice automatically came out: “You have a compulsory task that you must accept.”

“How can a task be compulsory?!” Finn was shocked. Wasn’t it previously stated that the tasks are optional? How come there is a compulsory task now?

“The tasks you have previously accepted but failed to complete will turn into compulsory tasks the second time.” Zero’s reply, as always, was coldly blunt.

Damn it! Finn suddenly remembered his first failed task, the one that had a deep impact on him. His sex drive was locked because of that fucking task.

The problem is, that task was a bit sick in the head. Even if Finn accepts it, he might not be able to complete it.

“What would happen if I refuse to accept the task?” Finn tentatively asked. “The punishment for the initial task failure becomes permanent.”

“Damn, I’ll take it.” Without hesitation, Finn declared his decision. Wouldn’t a permanent punishment mean he’d never have a hard-on for the rest of his life?

Looking at this compulsory task, Finn felt a chill down his spine, damn the punishment for failure is doubled?!

“What does this 2-star difficulty mean?” Finn was too busy to consider the punishment for failure, he was definitely accepting it nonetheless. If he doesn’t accept, the cost Finn would have to bear would be unbearable. It’d be better to let him die.

“All tasks generated for the first time have a default difficulty of one star. If you fail the first time and restart it, the difficulty increases by double to two stars. The same goes for every increase in difficulty: every additional star doubles the difficulty.”

“Understood. What does this ‘monthly spending limit increased by 2 million’ mean?” Finn was extremely curious about this. This is a new development.

“You can think of it as pocket money I’ll give to you every month.” Zero rarely let out an icy joke.

The pocket money… Finn immediately warmed up, even though he had been spending a lot of money before, but those were only allowable during tasking periods. Finn’s usual spending was his own money, like the 20 million he donated today was his own money, leaving him with only 40 million now.

“So, you mean this money is for me to use freely, right?” Finn understood the meaning immediately.

“Yes!” Zero’s confirming answer made Finn’s heart incredibly warm. If it’s 2 million every month now, wouldn’t the figure grow to 20 million a month or even 200 million a month in the future after completing more tasks? Thinking about having 2 billion in pocket money every month, Finn felt his heart jumping with excitement!

Right now, Finn suddenly found Zero adorable again. Looking at the task displayed on the phone, Finn immediately started pondering, he must complete this task! This is related to his future fiscal prospects! Initially, Finn thought that after becoming a billionaire, there was no more way to make money, until he could exchange advanced technologies from Zero.

Strictly speaking, this task is not that difficult, even though it has now been upgraded from hiring one to five assistants, with the additional requirement of physical appearances, Finn knew how strict Zero was on beauty ratings. To Finn, a girl who scored more than seventy points was a beauty.

And now, the requirement was 85 points! The good thing was, the timeframe was more inclusive than last time, overall, Finn was still confident in completing this task.

After going through the task requirements, Finn immediately turned on his computer, and started searching the entire city for large-scale job fairs.

Firstly, the previous job market was an absolute no-go, how could one possibly find high-quality beauties there! Should he want to find high-quality beauties, he must go to places where high-quality beauties gather. After a search, there seemed to be no large-scale job fair in Celeston lately, this was eliminated.

The second choice was universities. Finn firstly targeted film schools, where beauties were commonly found. Unfortunately, most of the top 10 film schools in the country are in the capital. In Celeston, there’s only Celeston Drama College. And Finn didn’t have time to fly to the capital.

Unfortunately, Finn searched and found no job fair happening in this college. Plus, the students here most likely aspired to join the entertainment industry. If Finn held a recruitment event, he could only do so alone. There was a risk that he might be beaten up by the people there. He’d have to at least disguise it as a job fair.

With this in mind, Finn loosened his restrictions and started searching which universities in Celeston held job fairs. In college, he should be able to find a few beauties, right?

But before searching, Finn prayed in his heart, hoping it wouldn’t be a technical college holding a job fair..
