Chapter 573: packed into 572
Gu Kai, in a white doctor’s coat, along with the medical staff, was waiting at the hospital entrance when Luo Haofeng and Qin Mu rushed to bring Mo Jingteng in. He immediately ordered the staff to go greet them and assist Mo Jingteng onto the surgery gurney.
While checking on Mo Jingteng’s condition, he asked Luo Haofeng and Qin Mu, “What happened?”
Luo Haofeng and Qin Mu had already phoned him during their journey to the hospital.
Previously, Mo Jingteng’s chief physician had always been Gu Kai’s father, Gu Yan. However, today, with Gu Yan and Ranran both away in D Country, Gu Kai had taken over Mo Jingteng’s case.
Seeing his brows slightly furrowed, with a hint of abnormality in his visage, Luo Haofeng became subconsciously alarmed, worrying, “Ah Kai, the old man isn’t in serious trouble, is he?”
Although Mo Jingteng fainted from a situation completely unrelated to him and Ah Mu, they were the ones who happened to be in his office at the time. If something significant did occur, Mo Xiuchen might not cause them trouble, but Mo Zixuan definitely would be relentless.
Qin Mu’s eyes slightly changed, as they swept over Mo Jingteng and then to Gu Kai.
While they were talking, they had already reached the hospital’s entrance. Gu Kai’s thin lips compress as he instructed a nurse, “Take him to the second operating room,” and then somewhat slowed his pace.
The others continued to push Mo Jingteng forward as Gu Kai turned his head. He glanced over Qin Mu’s cold expression and the hint of worry on Luo Haofeng’s face, then whispered, “He’s feigning unconsciousness.”
“Feigning unconsciousness?”
“Keep your voice down!”
Luo Haofeng exclaimed in surprise.
From the side, Qin Mu coldly glared at him and lightly scolded.
Fortunately, the lobby was crowded and noisy at the moment.
Mo Jingteng was being transported into the elevator and couldn’t hear his voice.
“Were you two by his side when he fainted?”
Gu Kai’s sharp gaze scanned their faces while a trace of doubt permeated his assured tone.
Why would Mo Jingteng pretend to faint?
Qin Mu’s voice was deep and frosty,”Uh-huh, he was hoping one of us would take over Mo Xiuchen’s role as CEO. We refused and then he fainted.”
He had actually thought Mo Jingteng had genuinely fainted.
At the moment, both he and Luo Haofeng were rushed.
They had carried him out of the office and happened to run into Cheng Jia. He had asked her to deliver a message to Mo Zixuan before urgently bringing him to the hospital with Luo Haofeng.
So, everything was just an act.
With that in mind, he found it somewhat absurd.
The corner of his mouth twitched into a smile, but the smile carried a trace of chill, mirroring the transitional nature of the season.
Luo Haofeng also laughed, a scoff staining his smile, “Experience does count. It seems that the old man is dead set on bringing Mo Xiuchen back to the company. Ah Mu, you might consider accepting his proposal for now. We’ve dedicated so many years of our lives to MS Group, it would be a shame to hand it all over to Mo Zixuan. Perhaps, Wen Ran might recover from her sickness during her trip to D Country. Given that, it’s uncertain whether Mo Xiuchen would return to the company.”
They had invested so much effort, yet Mo Xiuchen casually decided to abandon everything. Luo Haofeng thought it was not worthwhile on his behalf.
Even though Mo Xiuchen had the capability to provide Wen Ran a perfect life without MS Group, he just couldn’t stand Mo Zixuan and didn’t want him to reap benefits off their hard work.
**
When Mo Zixuan arrived at the hospital, Mo Jingteng had just been pushed into a ward.
It was fast because Mo Jingteng had woken up by himself when Gu Kai entered the operating room.
So there was no surgery.
Nevertheless, Gu Kai didn’t let him off easily. He forcefully ordered a series of examinations for Mo Jingteng – complex and mundane. It wasn’t for the sake of the examination fees but to teach him a lesson.
So that he would think twice before pretending to faint, frightening everyone around him.
“Dad, are you okay? As soon as I heard you’d fainted, I rushed right over,” Mo Zixuan wore a concerned face as he moved to his father’s bedside with Cheng Jia trailing behind him.
Mo Jingteng looked pale and seriously ill, the result of the series of grueling examinations.
As he watched Mo Zixuan drawing near, Mo Jingteng spoke in a calm voice, “You came to the hospital, what about the company?”
Mo Zixuan sneered inwardly.
However, his face displayed an earnest expression of concern. As he squatted down beside the bed to get a closer look at the sickly Mo Jingteng, he spoke with deep affection, “Dad, you should stop thinking about the company right now. It’s most important that you focus on your recovery. When I heard that you fainted, I was extremely worried. How could I not come and check on you?”
“What’s there to worry about? It’s not the first time I’ve fainted, nor is it the first time I’ve been hospitalized. Also, where are Ah Mu and Ah Feng?”
His gaze shifted past his son, scanning the ward. When he went for the examination, he was supported by nurses.
Luo Haofeng and Qin Mu had disappeared somewhere.
“They’ve gone back to the company. Dad, why did you faint all of a sudden?”
Mo Zixuan’s expression was worrisome.
It was as if he was really concerned for his father’s health. A brief glint of fierceness flashed under the depths of his eyes.
Mo Jingteng’s gaze flickered momentarily. Amidst Mo Zixuan’s concerned gaze, he deflected, “Zixuan, have you figured out how to handle the ‘Hao Chen’ issue?”
A hint of gravity clouded Mo Zixuan’s countenance as he spoke in a frustrated tone, “I’m trying to figure it out. Following legal procedures right now isn’t to our advantage in terms of labor and expenditures. We can only swallow this silent loss.”
“A silent loss?”
Mo Jingteng frowned in displeasure, his complexion turning sour.
He thought to himself that if it had been Mo Xiuchen, he wouldn’t just take the loss without doing anything.
If he were to leave the Group in Zixuan’s charge, he could foresee that within one year, MS Group would vanish from G city.
This business was his life’s work. He’d done many seemingly immoral things in order to help MS Group grow and make the Mo family the wealthiest in G city. He couldn’t let Zixuan destroy it.
Thinking about this further solidified his decision to bring Mo Xiuchen back to the company.
No matter the methods used, he had to ensure Mo Xiuchen returned to the company.
If Mo Xiuchen insisted on giving up the company for Wen Ran, he wouldn’t hesitate to make Wen Ran disappear from this world.
He lowered his gaze, a sinister look flickered briefly at the bottom of his eyes, to which Mo Zixuan didn’t take notice.
He had no idea how many twists and turns Mo Jingteng had pondered about in his mind over such a short period. He hurriedly explained why he believed in swallowing the loss.
Behind him, Cheng Jia saw that the father and son weren’t likely to finish their discussion anytime soon, and turned to leave the room.
On her way to the restroom, she ran into Shen Yuting who was communicating with a nurse about something, just as they came out of the elevator.
“Doctor Shen!”
Cheng Jia happened upon an idea and called out cheerfully just as Shen Yuting passed by.
Shen Yuting halted her steps when she heard someone calling out to her. It was only then that she noticed it was Cheng Jia.
