The Tycoon's Odyssey

Chapter 86: 86:Grim Situation

After all, they were all busy with their work and reviewing new projects so how did they have such free time to go through this? At most, they would be briefed at the end by senior managers.

She expected a manager to appear and seal the deal but the sudden interest in Steve was more frightening than she could imagine.

There wasn't anyone who didn't know the unspoken rules of the business world. Just because you made it or invented it didn't mean that it was yours to be used solely.

Others imitate, copy, and even create better versions of this. A leading brand always needs to stay ahead but it isn't possible to come up with innovative projects so often so they resort to all kinds of trickery.

And it was a brutal fight. If you don't have power to defend, you will be buried somewhere.

Aria had never liked such aspects of business, which is why she decided to leave her corporate job and become a teacher, which was quite peaceful and less strenuous.

And Evan's asking price might be too much for her previous boss to bear.

"Haa! What is he doing with Suri? I am feeling restless.."

"I don't know out of all why Suri had to fancy this poor boy."

After taking a moment, she decided to call.

"Hello!"

[Hello]

"Is everything going well? Or did you perhaps encounter any problem?"

[Yeah, everything went well. There weren't any problems but Suri did something that made me think as if she was playing a prank.]

"Prank...What prank? Did she rank you?"Aria's eyes flashed in disbelief.

[You want to know...Just let me arrive. I can't say one phone.]

"I am reaching...Shit..."

Aria skipped a beat on hearing Evan roar and scream.

"Evannn!What's going on?"

"Evann!"

She shouted but what greeted him was the sound of blaring blasts and clashing of metals along with horns.

Aria stared at the phone with a dazed expression. The phone seemed to have been broken or something as all she could hear was blaring screeching noises but she could already understand what transpired in the span of the moments.

"Accident....Evan..."

Her mind became blank for a moment, unable to think straight but she slapped herself to stop being dazed...

"Suri...She might help..."

BEEP!BEEP!

The phone rang but the call wasn't collected that frightened her but fortunately…

Soon, the call connected to Suri and Aria shouted,"Suri, Evan might have gotten into an accident."

"WHAT?"

A surprised shriek came from the other side.

....

Suri arrived at the accident scene just as emergency responders were carefully extricating Evan from the wreckage.

She hurried over as her heart pounded in her chest as she took in the chaotic scene.

The cab Evan sar was a mangled mess, surrounded by flashing lights and hurried voices.

"What happened? Is he okay?" Suri asked, her voice trembling with worry.

One of the paramedics turned to her, their expression grim. "He's been seriously injured. We're stabilising him now."

Suri listened in horror as they listed Evan's injuries, broken ribs, a concussion, and severe damage to his hands and legs.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she watched them load Evan onto a stretcher, his face contorted in pain.

"Please, take care of him," Suri pleaded, her voice cracking.

"We'll do everything we can," the paramedic assured her, before they rushed Evan into the waiting ambulance. Suri stood there, stunned, watching the vehicle disappear into the lane, praying silently for Evan's recovery.

Her eyes became sharp as Evan disappeared and she decided to take a look around cause she felt something was amiss.

...

At the hospital, Suri paced anxiously in the sterile waiting area, her mind racing with worry for Evan. Every passing minute felt like an eternity as she clutched her phone tightly, waiting for any news. Aria and Martha arrived shortly after, their faces drawn with concern as they hurried towards Suri.

"Suri, what happened? Where's Evan?" Aria asked, her voice tinged with fear.

"He was in a car accident," Suri replied, her voice trembling. "They're still with him. I don't know anything yet."

Martha wrapped an arm around Suri, offering silent support as they waited. Moments later, a weary-looking doctor approached them, his expression grave.

"Are you here for Mr. Evan's family?" he asked, his tone sympathetic yet cautious.

"No, we're his friends," Suri said quickly, her voice catching.

The doctor nodded solemnly. "Mr. Evan has sustained several serious injuries. He has multiple fractures, including broken ribs and bones in his hands and legs. He also suffered a concussion and some internal bleeding, which we're monitoring closely."

Aria gasped softly, her hand flying to her mouth in shock. Martha squeezed Suri's shoulder tightly, her own eyes welling with tears.

"Can we see him?" Suri asked, her voice trembling.

"Not right now," the doctor said gently. "He's in the ICU, and we're stabilising him. He's conscious but sedated for now. We'll keep you updated on his condition."

Suri nodded numbly, her thoughts swirling with concern for Evan. Aria and Martha exchanged worried glances, their distress palpable in the air.

"Please take good care of him," Aria whispered in distress.

"We will," the doctor assured them. "He's in good hands."

As the doctor left to attend to other patients, Suri sank into a nearby chair, overwhelmed with worry. Aria paced restlessly, her brow furrowed with concern, while Martha stood silently beside Suri, offering silent comfort in their shared distress.

"We have to stay strong for him," Suri murmured, more to herself than to the others.

"I am sure he will be fine.As the doctor said, for now he is out of emergency,"Martha addressed.

"We will," Aria replied firmly, her voice wavering slightly while also wondering why Evan 's luck was so bad.

It may not look like it but blamed Suri and started at her retirement.Last time, he was entangled with Suri, he suffered an accident by falling off the roof and now that he met again, there was another one.

Suri noticed Aria's thoughts from her complicated expression.

Sadly, she didn't have any words to refuse.

In fact, she felt even more guilty and glanced at Martha, who looked both surprised and concerned. Without saying a word, Suri reached out, gently but firmly pulling Martha aside. Martha's eyes widened in surprise as Suri guided her out of the hospital room.

"Aria… you stay here and take care of things," Suri instructed, her tone steady despite her own turmoil. "I need to speak with Martha for a moment."

With a quick nod, Aria watched them leave. As Suri led Martha down the hospital corridors, her grip on Martha's arm was reassuring yet urgent. Once outside, Suri stopped and turned to Martha, her expression softening. "I'm sorry for dragging you into this, but we need to talk away from here. It's important."
