Immortal of the Ages

Chapter 658: Something From the Immortal Sword Court!

Chapter 658: Something From the Immortal Sword Court!

And Gu Suwan was still reeling from the shock of betraying the Celestial Court.

For a Rank 3 Lightning Duchess like her to betray the entire Great Dao Celestial Realm for a youth not even 30 years old—it was sheer madness. Yet, she had yielded.

Yun Xiao hadn’t forced her hand; the words had just poured out of her uncontrollably. After speaking, she braced for his furious reaction, trembling. But when she timidly looked up, Yun Xiao’s face was but a mask of frost.

"They realized I'm not Lu Yao that quickly?" Yun Xiao asked.

"Yes..."

"Because of Gu Sutao, right?" he pressed on.

After Liu Mumu had tried to reveal the conspiracy of the Celestial Court in Sky Soaring City, Yun Xiao had finally learned about Gu Sutao's identity. But, alone as he was, he couldn’t track her down.

Yun Xiao had raced against time to plug every potential leak.

"Mhm." Gu Suwan nodded, her eyes still locked on Yun Xiao with nervous anticipation.

"You're not Lu Yao?" the Moon Sword Goddess inhaled sharply, "Then you are..."

"I am Yun Xiao… The same Xiao that represents free and leisurely. I belong to the mortal realm that birthed the Immortal Asylum."

Yun Xiao saw no point in hiding it any longer—it was futile.

Decisively, he had used the Thunder Immortal Formation to eliminate all Thunder Department officials of Rank 6 and above, hoping to seal this breach. Yet, it seemed news had still spread.

It was all for naught, but there was nothing to be done.

"Yun Xiao..." the Moon Sword Goddess muttered the name, then asked instinctively, "So, how old are you, truly?"

Her question was borne of suspicion, pondering if Yun Xiao was concealing his power, his true age perhaps comparable to the likes of Emperor Bai Di or the Crown Prince.

Yun Xiao casually replied, "16 years old."

The Moon Sword Goddess’s eyes quivered slightly in shock. So young?

"Master."

Even now, Yun Xiao addressed her thus, causing the Moon Sword Goddess to blush. She lowered her head and said, "Just call me by my name. I'm Yue Yin, the same Yin that represents fate."

"Mhmm, I guess we could be considered related in a way," Yun Xiao said.

The Moon Sword Goddess was taken aback once again. Wasn't he a Yun? How was he related to her?

While she puzzled over this internally, the expression on Yun Xiao’s face was deadly serious.

He leaned close, his voice a chilling whisper in her ear.

"No... those are the legacy of the Immortal Sword Court's ancestors..." The Moon Sword Goddess stepped back, her face paling, her heart trembling violently.

"Saving a life is worth more than creating a seven-story pagoda. This is your chance for redemption. Would you really pass it by?" Yun Xiao's gaze was icy as he watched her.

"I-I..." The Moon Sword Goddess trembled, sweat beginning to bead at her temples as she faced immense internal strife.

"There's no time left." Yun Xiao tugged at her robe, his eyes blazing with a cold ferocity. "This is your commitment to me, your only usefulness. I'm leaving now. If you're not there when I expect you, just imagine your fate."

Turning to Gu Suwan, he then asked, "Do you have a swift, small sword vessel?"

"Yes, the Azure Rain Sword Vessel." Gu Suwan bit her lip. "You intend to intercept the Nine Thunders Sovereign yourself?"

"Can it catch up to the Nine Thunders Divine Ark?" Yun Xiao didn't answer her question but continued with his own.

"It can! The Nine Thunders Divine Ark is too large," Gu Suwan replied.

"Let's go!" Yun Xiao gave no room for hesitation.

Once they chose this path, there was no turning back.

Gu Suwan had already sealed her fate by reporting the movements of the Nine Thunders Sovereign, and the Moon Sword Goddess's task was more than merely kneeling.

BOOM! An azure sword vessel soared up into the sky from the ruins of the Thunder Department, piloted by Gu Suwan, who, once joyous in love aboard this very boat with her man—now struck by lightning—steered through her tears, her world turned upside down.

In that moment, in the Cao Immortal Manor, the Moon Sword Goddess bowed her head, her fists clenched, wrestling with her decision.

Finally, she bit her lip hard.

"Sixteen years old, a monster of the heavenly path, I must act before everyone realizes his true terror," she resolved.

With that, she commanded her Sovereign Sword, speeding even faster than the sword vessel, towards the Immortal Sword Court.

Only the ghostly Pale Revenant remained, gazing at the heavens, murmuring, "Yun Xiao, the supreme ruler above all, sooner or later, everyone will kneel..."

In the void of space, a dim, amber star cast a hazy glow, suspended in the sky.

A violet sword vessel raced towards this celestial body.

Aboard, a captivating face with deep vessel eyes, a high nose bridge, and luscious red lips revealed an enchanting beauty.

"Is this the mortal realm that birthed the Immortal Asylum, the cradle of that fellow?" Cao Shuo's lips curled into a smile, her eyes sultry with sweetness.

She hummed lightly, ready to steer the sword vessel into that mortal realm.

Suddenly, behind her, a massive and violent shadow of thunder appeared!

Cao Shuo's complexion drastically changed!

Whirling around, she saw a thunderous divine ark, vast as a starry leviathan, breaking through the stardust, looming like a steel giant of the deep seas over her tiny craft!

Atop the divine ark stood a towering young man with violet hair, his locks electrified, his body aglow with lightning. The thunderbolts radiated outward, weaving a net that darkened the skies of the void.

Such majesty belonged to none other than one of the Celestial Court's Eight Great Sovereigns, the overlord of the Thunder Department, the Nine Heavens Responding Origin Thunder Voice Universalizing Sovereign!

He was the Supreme Lord of Arbiters, the Sovereign of Myriad Thunderous Decrees!

"Nine Thunders Sovereign!" Cao Shuo could hardly believe she would encounter him here!

Yun Xiao hadn't mentioned this.

"Crafty lad, you've doomed me!" A single glance told Cao Shuo all was lost.

The calamity of the Thunder Department, the death of all the Heavenly Officers Rank 6 and above—Yet, she alone survived. What did that mean?

There was now undeniable evidence that Yun Xiao had tampered with the Thunder Immortal Formation!

"Lil Cao..." The Nine Thunders Sovereign on the divine ark looked down upon her as one might a mere ant, his eyes alive with electric serpents, focusing on Cao Shuo.

"You've embarked on such a wicked path, all for your misguided bleeding heart. Not only did you cause your own brother’s death, but you also implicated thousands of your kin in the Thunder Department. Can you justify this to the father who tirelessly nurtured you, to the ancestors of your Cao Family?"

The voice of the Nine Thunders Sovereign thundered forth, and Cao Shuo's sword vessel nearly shattered under the force.

Cao Shuo, having lived many years without purpose, faced true calamity with an initial panic that quickly settled into a deep calm...

She took a deep breath, stepping forth from her vessel with a resolute grace, and confronted the towering Nine Thunders Sovereign. "Everyone has their own path. Born in the Cao Family of the Thunder Department, I led to its downfall. My life has been aimless, a mere existence, indeed a disservice to my family and ancestors. Yet, I can claim that I have stayed true to my conscience and the common folk."

"Sigh." The Nine Thunders Sovereign shook his head. "I have no interest in this futile debate of righteousness and humanity. At this point, our paths diverge irreconcilably. Accept your fate."

"Nine Thunders Sovereign!" Cao Shuo lifted her chin defiantly, "Our conflict is not a matter of different paths!"

"And what is it?" Thunder swirled in the Sovereign's eyes.

"I am the true path, and you are not; you are devils! This isn’t about being different, it’s about running counter to the path, incompatible to the core!"

With that, Cao Shuo’s gaze burned fiercely, not a trace of fear of death as she faced the mighty divine ark, proclaiming loudly, "If so, then execute me. Let my spirit and body be destroyed completely and cleanly!"

"You think too much," the Nine Thunders Sovereign scoffed.

Cao Shuo frowned. "A great Sovereign of the Celestial Court resorting to threats and using hostages against a child? You are both ridiculous and disgraceful."

BOOM! With a light leap, the Nine Thunders Sovereign sent a net of lightning pressing down from above. "You as a hostage is merely icing on the cake."

"You are mistaken, I am but an old woman to him, dispensable. If he decides to strike you down, his sword would not hesitate to pass through me," Cao Shuo said with a smirk.

"Let's see if he does then." As the Nine Thunders Sovereign spoke, he casually waved his hand, and in his grasp appeared a nine-colored thunder cauldron!

The cauldron flung from his hand quickly expanded and hurtled towards Cao Shuo.

"The Supreme Everlasting Thunder Cauldron, you really didn’t need to bring this out..." As Cao Shuo spoke, she suddenly realized what the Nine Thunders Sovereign intended, and her face turned ice cold.
