Conquering His Cold Heart

Chapter 223

The more and more he got closer to Tilla’s face, he felt something warm forming in his heart and moving down to his stomach. That warm feeling was unlike anything he had felt before.

He could hear Tilla’s heartbeat getting louder and louder. He could feel her warm breath clashing against his cold breath.

When he was a breath away from her, for the first time, his nose caught a very subtle hint of jasmine from Tilla. He didn’t know whether he was imagining it, but he couldn’t deny that she smelled wonderful.

Tilla, on the other hand, was stunned by that sudden closeness between them. She was confused about what Vincent was trying to do to her.

She wondered if he was smelling her, or if he was trying to use some kind of mysterious power on her like earlier and trying to make her forget everything that happened just a while ago.

But she couldn’t deny that her mind thought of something else as well. Every time his cold breath caressed her face, she felt her heart pounding inside her chest as though it was expecting something to happen.

The thought of breaking free from his hold and running away never once occurred to her even after what had just gone down between them.

Before Vincent got second thoughts about what he was going to do, and before Tilla broke off from his enchantment, Vincent slightly parted his lips and gently pressed them on Tilla’s lips. He felt a tingling sensation in his heart when he felt how warm her lips were.

.....

A sudden wave of warmth washed over Tilla’s heart as well, prompting her to inhale sharply and clench her fists. She curled her toes when all of her senses focused on Vincent’s cold lips that felt surprisingly soft against her own lips.

He lifted his head to take a peek at Tilla’s face. She had her eyes closed and her lips were parted. As Vincent didn’t see any type of resistance from Tilla’s side, he got even more confident. He shifted one of his hands to her waist and used the other to drape it around her nape.

And this time, he dove in with much more vigor. He pulled her body close and claimed her mouth again like someone who was starving for centuries, which wasn’t that true in his case. However, the hunger and intensity that he showed were no less than someone who was actually starving for centuries.

His eyelids closed on their own, forcing him to imagine the shape of her lips as his lips began exploring them side by side.

“Mmm...” Tilla was surprised by herself when she moaned in pleasure. She even felt guilty thinking she wasn’t supposed to be enjoying the kiss.

“Mmph!” She instantly let out another protesting moan and pressed her lips tightly as though she was hiding them from his reach. Then she pushed herself back, only to realize how out of breath she was. Breathing in through her nose wasn’t enough to catch her breath. Thus, she opened her mouth a little wider and started taking deep breaths while looking at Vincent with a questioning glance on her face.

However, Vincent took the open mouth as an invitation and leaned again. Before she could say anything, he had her mouth closed shut using his own lips. And this time, he wasn’t just imagining the outline and shape of her lips as he closed his eyes again. He was also imagining the texture of her tongue while he invaded her mouth.

“Mmmm...” he let out a throaty moan inside her mouth when he got a taste of her. He was sure that it was the second-best thing that he had ever tasted in his life, the first being her blood which was sweeter than anyone else’s.

He was so lost in the exploration and that newly discovered taste that his naughty fingers acted on their own. He slid his hand from her waist to her back and his fingers were already entangled with the lace of Tilla’s bodice.

By the time he realized what he was doing, he had already pulled the lace with a jerk, breaking the enchantment that he had on Tilla.

Tilla pushed herself back in shock and instantly jumped up on her feet. However, she hadn’t expected her knees to be so weak. She sat back down on Vincent’s lap again because her knees were literally shaking. She didn’t know whether it was due to fear or excitement, but she immediately got off Vincent’s lap and crawled a bit further away from him.

She pressed both of her palms on her chest thinking that her bodice was going to fall off. And she looked at Vincent with a skeptical look on her face.

Her glance alone was enough to let Vincent know that he had gone too overboard. He straightened his coat and awkwardly mumbled, “Umm... I didn’t mean to er... pull your... yeah.” He even bowed slightly and apologized, “Please excuse my insolent behavior, but I meant no disrespect towards you.”

Tilla simply gave a slight bow in response and said nothing. Instead, she looked away from him so that he wouldn’t be able to see how red her cheeks were.

Vincent had already noticed how flustered she was though. And he could still see her ears that were as red as strawberries. He didn’t dare to ask how she felt about their kiss though. He was afraid that she would scold him and run away, or worse, she would start avoiding him again if he reminded her about their kiss.

But at the same time, he also couldn’t pretend that nothing happened between them when he just had the best kiss of his long life.

So, after getting up, he softly said, “If you are wondering if I recall what just happened between us or not, then I want to tell you that I clearly remember everything. I wasn’t in any daze or under the influence of anything. I didn’t do that on a whim. And no, I don’t go around, kissing just anyone.”
