Chapter 293 Investigate-Second Half
Chapter 293 Investigate-Second Half
These individuals were the ones involved in the shenanigans, roughed up by their comrades who, aware of the consequences, took matters into their own hands. However, a phone call from Odysseus reporting to the director spared them from a more dire fate. While they bore serious bruises, their lives were not endangered.
Don Veneziale fared worse, his cut reduced by half—from 40% to a mere 20% of the profits he accrued from occupying the dock and auctioning low-grade artifacts from the Atlanteus base.
Gritting his teeth, he glared at the prone figures on the floor, seething with anger. It was their actions that led to Mr. Magitek scolding him and his profits being slashed in half. Millions of dollars in potential daily earnings vanished! If not for the impending latrine duty awaiting these individuals, he might have taken matters into his own hands.
Observing Don Veneziale\'s fury and frustration, Odysseus chuckled, rising from his seat after draining the tea cup on the table before him.
"You\'re quite lucky, Don Veneziale, that my lord values you so much... so..." He spoke casually, but his tone turned icy as he fixed a cold gaze on Don Veneziale, as if contemplating his demise.
"You better ensure that this is the last time you mess up like this... capiche?" Odysseus instructed, his killing intent focused entirely on Don Veneziale.
"Yes, Mr. Odysseus!" Don Veneziale responded with a bow, his heart pounding as Odysseus continued to glare at him for a few more seconds before the killing intent dissipated. Odysseus left the estate, allowing Don Veneziale a moment to catch his breath, releasing a long sigh.

Having concluded matters with the Veneziale Gang, Daniel decided to wrap up his rest session at the Medical Center. He needed to prepare for a trip to Japan, after all.
As he prepared to leave, Envy, adorned in her iconic purple dress, entered the room, accompanied by Michaela and Sylvana, who were there for a check-up with their father.
Observing Daniel\'s somber expression, Envy sensed that he must already be aware of the news from Japan.
"I take it that you already know about the events in Japan," Envy remarked with a smile, pulling out a tablet and swiping it to check the available data.
"Yes. Do you have any information on this, Envy? I want to learn as much as I can about that place before I go there," Daniel inquired.
Envy didn\'t respond immediately. Instead, she sniffed the air briefly, using magic to enhance her sense of smell. Then, she looked knowingly at Penthesilea, causing her to blush, acknowledging that Envy must be aware of her affair with Daniel.
"Did you just do the deed with him?" Envy asked, sporting a teasing yet knowing smile.
Penthesilea didn\'t verbally respond; instead, she blushed and nodded.
"Ooh, never thought you had it in you—so aggressive. I like it. And you\'re an ancient human, one of the heroes in Greek mythology, to boot. I\'m sure you\'ll ensure a strong heir for Daniel\'s clan," Envy commented with a genuine smile.
Envy\'s appreciation wasn\'t a fa?ade or born out of her namesake; it was sincere. Since deciding to align herself with Daniel and considering him her future husband, Envy, with her longevity and strong mage mindset, felt a responsibility to ensure that Daniel would leave a robust and capable heir for his clan.
"For goodness\' sake, watch what you\'re saying. We have children here!" Christopher admonished Envy\'s innuendo-laden words. He covered Sylvana\'s ears with his hands while she continued to enjoy munching on her chocolate bar.
"Papa, papa, who is this scarface uncle?" Sylvana innocently asked, looking at Christopher.
"Ah... He\'s Uncle Christopher. He\'s..." Daniel hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to call Christopher.
"He\'s my friend," Daniel decided to label Christopher as a friend in the end, considering that Christopher had brought paladins from the Vatican to assist them.
Sylvana beamed a smile toward Christopher. "Oh, Uncle is the first male friend papa has! Congratulations!"
"What\'s that supposed to mean?" Daniel commented.
"Want some chocolate?" Sylvana extended her hand, offering her half-eaten chocolate bar to Christopher, who was momentarily stunned by the little girl\'s cuteness.
"Thank you, little lady!" Christopher smiled, broke off a piece of the chocolate bar, and enjoyed it with a smile, indulging the little girl who smiled back at him.
"You seem to be good at handling young kids. Interested in being her manny plus bodyguard? I\'ll hire you! How about $400,000 a month?" Daniel offered.
Christopher didn\'t respond verbally; he simply turned toward Daniel and mouthed a word signaling [f*ck you], then continued playing with Sylvana.
"Hey, I\'m serious," Daniel protested but was stopped by Envy, who faked a cough.
"Ahem... You seem to suddenly not be worried about Wrath, oh... sorry, Koyuki," Envy corrected herself, reminding Daniel. "Shouldn\'t we talk about the information I know?"
"I am worried about her, but since you are here, I believe that with your help, we could come up with something solid to get to the bottom of this," Daniel expressed confidently while looking at Envy.
The Witch of Envy blushed slightly at receiving trust from the target of her adoration. It was rare for her to receive sincere gratitude like this, as the Hightower was not a place where sincerity was common.
"You sure are natural at this... womanizer," she uttered under her breath in Latin, her old tongue, leaving the people in the room, other than Christopher, who were proficient in Latin, baffled by what she muttered to herself.
"Ahem! ANYWAY! Listen!" Envy redirected the room\'s attention, attempting to shift the atmosphere to a more serious tone. She then began to share information about Japan with Daniel and the group.
