Chapter 67 [Bonus ]The Death Of The King?
The damage caused by the explosion was not limited to loss of life and injury. The overall rescue operation was severely hampered by the incident, and many of the trapped survivors and innocent people lost their lives due to the chaos that ensued. The cost of this tragedy was immeasurable.
The King, on the other hand, remained unharmed due to his magical shield. Although he sustained a few bruises and minor burns, his life was not in danger.
"Medic! Help the King first!" one of the soldiers ordered, pulling a doctor away from treating severely injured patients and towards the king.
At that moment, Wrath charged at the king, unsheathing her sword and aiming it at the bastard king\'s neck.
"Arrrrrrrrrrrrggghhhh—!!" She let out a scream of anguish as anger consumed her, causing her to lose all reason.
Clank!!
However, when the blade made contact, it did not hit the soft flesh of the king\'s neck, but instead struck the buckler that Ragnar had used earlier to demonstrate the power of the Daniel artifact. Although Wrath tried to cut through the buckler with her blade, it was built with the same grade and technique as the blade and proved to be a strong defense against it.
"Lord Stenmark, move!" Wrath yelled in rage, attempting to push Ragnar aside with her supernatural power.
Ragnar clenched his teeth, his brawny muscles straining against the overwhelming force emanating from Wrath\'s power aspect. Her eyes glowed bright red as her power continued to escalate.
"Why the hell are you standing there?! Go back to your palace and hide!" Ragnar shouted at the panicked king.
"Where do you think you\'re going?!" Wrath roared as she tried to follow the fleeing king, but Ragnar continued to block her path to prevent her from killing him.
Wrath\'s power continued to rise, making it impossible for Ragnar to continue blocking her without exposing his own magical power. He quickly retreated from her and activated a spell in his gloves using his power enhancement runestone.
Meanwhile, the soldiers tried to stop Wrath as she charged toward the king. They fired their guns at her, using deadly force.
Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank!
The bullets bounced off of Wrath\'s mana shield as she continued her relentless advance toward the soldiers.
"What the hell is that!?" One of the soldiers cried out in panic as he witnessed the incredible power of Wrath\'s mana shield. He could hardly believe what he was seeing, thinking it was something that could only happen in a movie.
"Protect the king!" one of the soldiers shouted, continuing to fire at Wrath.
With a loud roar, Wrath cleanly swept her sword through the soldier who was firing at her, killing him instantly. The rest of the soldiers continued to fire at her, but the bullets bounced harmlessly off her mana shield.
In one swift stroke, all of the upper-body soldiers slowly dropped to the ground as their blood spurted out like rain. The reason why normal people with standard mundane weapons couldn\'t fight against mages or supernatural beings was because of the ineffectiveness of small arms against them. Even standard mana shields could withstand non-mana penetrating anti-material rifle bullets.
As Wrath continued to massacre the soldiers, Ragnar quickly brought out his phone and dialed the emergency number.
"Activating the mind dampener now!" Ragnar ordered as he sprinted towards Wrath, who was charging up her power at the car.
Reacting quickly, Ragnar used his mana push spell to force Wrath\'s arm upwards.
BOOOOOOM!
A burst of red energy shot out from Wrath\'s hand and pierced through the cloud, leaving behind a gaping hole.
"Lord Stenmark, this is your final warning!" Wrath bellowed in rage.
"I know you\'re angry and want to kill the bastard! But listen, Wrath. He is still the councilor of the Hightower! If you kill him, you will be hunted down and killed by the Hightower Enforcers. Even if you are strong, one of them will eventually succeed in hunting you down!" Ragnar warned, trying to appeal to her reason.
"I don\'t care! If he doesn\'t belong in this world anymore, then there is no point in me living either! I\'ll kill that bastard no matter what!!" Wrath roared and rushed toward the car that was starting to drive away.
Wrath immediately rushes at Ragnar who is obstructing her path.
Booom!
With a loud boom, the buckler blocked Wrath\'s fist, and Ragnar was sent flying along with it towards some rubble that had already been cleared of survivors.
In that instant, a barrage of large debris came flying towards Ragnar at high speed. Wrath\'s strength was unnaturally immense as she hurled debris the size of a house at Ragnar. The massive pieces of rubble came hurtling towards him at a speed he couldn\'t evade, leaving him with no choice but to brace himself with the buckler.
Booom! Booom! Booom!
The impact of the debris was so intense that it buried Ragnar into the ground, preventing him from obstructing Wrath from pursuing and killing the king.
However, the king\'s car was nowhere in sight, having already fled while Wrath was preoccupied with stopping Ragnar without killing him.
Despite the stunning scene of Wrath and Ragnar fighting with unnatural strength and strange phenomena occurring, normal people paid no attention. They were too busy rescuing survivors and carrying out their work, seemingly oblivious to the chaos around them.
This was due to the activation of the mind dampener, an artifact built by the Hightower and situated in nearly every large city around the world. It was a fail-safe measure to be used in case mages were fighting in the city. To activate this powerful artifact, one had to be at least a Hightower Councilor.
The Hightower needed someone to oversee the fight to prevent it from getting out of control and affecting ordinary people. Although the loss of life and property still occurred during these conflicts, the Hightower preferred to keep it to a minimum and not have to clean up too much of a mess.
Wrath transformed into her demonic form, with black-red hair turning fiery red like hellfire, and two long curved red horns protruding from her temple. Her clothes morphed into red chitin-like armor, and two large red demon wings appeared behind her back, materializing from hellfire. Despite her demonic appearance, her beauty remained untouched and seemed even more dangerous and mysterious.
She opened her wings and flew up to the sky, stopping at a high altitude of around 800 meters above the ground in search of the car the king had fled in.
After scanning the area for a few moments, Wrath\'s eyes finally locked onto the car, which was heading towards a specific direction - one of the royal family mage barracks that were situated in all the cities of the Tessia Kingdom.
At the sight of this, a blood-lust smile spread across her face as she flew towards the car and the barracks without fear. Her determination to kill the bastard king was unyielding, no matter the cost.
The car had just arrived at the barracks when Wrath dropped down onto the roof, startling both the passengers and onlookers. Without any hesitation, she used her hand to pierce through the roof and tear it off as if it was made of paper, effortlessly revealing the people inside.
Wrath didn\'t waste any time and grabbed the King by the neck, pulling his face close to hers with a bloodthirsty smile. "Did you ever think this day would come, Victor?" she taunted, relishing the look of terror on his face.
With one hand stabilizing the King\'s body, she used the other to grip his head and began pulling upwards. "Remember what Daniel used to say? The strong don\'t put others down, they lift them up. I guess I\'ll do that for you," she teased as she increased the strength of her grip on his neck.
"Arrrrgggghh! No! No! Don\'t kill me! I\'m not his majesty! I\'m… not…," the king pleaded, but Wrath didn\'t listen. She pulled the king\'s head up along with his spine, tearing it off from his body.
"Disgusting!" Wrath cursed, dropping both the body and head onto the ground before stomping on the head in hatred. She used her hellfire to burn the corpses as she didn\'t want the bastard\'s remains to pollute the world.
After killing the king, Wrath fell to her knees, her demonic form dissipating as all her energy had been spent. The enemy she had sworn to kill was now dead, and the one she loved no longer lived in this world. It was time for her to join him.
With a serene smile on her face. She hugged her katana tenderly, as if embracing its creator. She wanted to use the sword to follow her beloved, but all her energy had been completely depleted, and she was immediately sent to the land of dreams.
