Chapter 78
Chapter 78
In the seven districts of Zhongjiang, nearly everyone became aware of a supermarket opening in Jiangning, renowned for its remarkably low prices.
Laundry detergent for two yuan, eggs for a few cents, pork for just over ten yuan, and so on. The news stirred up excitement among the elderly in Zhongjiang.
The youth were not left out either. Su Lin initiated a promotion offering a chance to win a game console with purchases, and all children’s toys were sold at a 20% discount. This strategy effectively targeted all age groups across Zhongjiang.
On May Day, bright and early, Su Lin drove Lin Xiaowan and Xia Shiyu to the eagerly awaited opening of Quan Le Gou’s first store.
“Xiaowan, later call our suppliers to ensure they are ready to deliver more goods, especially those on promotion. We need to have at least two million yuan worth of additional stock,” Su Lin instructed.
Lin Xiaowan was amazed. “Su Lin, we’ve already prepared several million yuan’s worth of stock, do we really need more? If we can’t sell them, they can’t be returned, and we’ll be stuck with them.”
Su Lin responded with a light laugh, “Xiaowan, you are underestimating the purchasing power of Zhongjiang’s residents. These are just a few million yuan’s worth of goods, watch how quickly they’ll be snapped up.”
Lin Xiaowan, familiar with the population size of this central city market, found it hard to believe. “I’ve never underestimated their buying power, but together with the suppliers’ stock, this totals over five million yuan.”
Su Lin confidently assured her, “It won’t be long before you realize I’m right.”
“Hmm, I shall wait and see,” Lin Xiaowan said, her admiration for Su Lin growing. She found his confidence in the face of significant decisions very attractive.
Arriving at Zhongjiang Avenue, Su Lin pointed out, “Look, do you still think we can’t sell everything?”
Lin Xiaowan was stunned to see the bustling crowd. The area outside Quan Le Gou Store was packed with people, easily numbering in the thousands. The street was lined with cars.
Lin Xiaowan was stunned and exclaimed in disbelief. “This… there are so many people!”
Su Lin reassured her, “This is just the first wave of elderly shoppers. Wait till our main target group arrives. Xiaowan, you’ll be very busy today.”
After parking the car, Su Lin made a call to Chen Yang, instructing him to manage the elderly customers’ safety carefully to avoid any accidents like fighting or stampeding.
Then, Chen Yang approached them urgently. “Class Monitor, please ask the suppliers to restock immediately. We need more eggs, rice, laundry detergent, and even rice cookers.”
Lin Xiaowan looked at Chen Yang in surprise, “Rice cookers too? Aren’t those bulky?”
Chen Yang, with a wry smile, replied, “Forget about the cookers; we almost had the shelves carried away. Please hurry with the restocking.”
“Eh… Is it really that exaggerated?” Lin Xiaowan questioned.
“You’ll see for yourself how exaggerated it is when you go check. We need to be quick; a lot of people are waiting,” said Chen Yang.
Lin Xiaowan and Su Lin walked to the home appliances area, finding it completely emptied. Rice cookers, pressure cookers, and gas stoves – everything was gone, leaving bare shelves.
“I… I’ll call the suppliers right away for delivery,” Lin Xiaowan hurriedly said.
Su Lin, raising an eyebrow, smiled and teased, “This is what happens when you don’t listen to the elders.”
“Hehe, technically, I am older than you,” Xia Shiyu playfully said to Su Lin.
“Er… Xia Shiyu, you might be a few days older, but you are still petite aren’t you?” Su Lin teased, making Xia Shiyu blush as she realized the implication in his remark.
“All set, the suppliers will deliver the goods soon. Chen Yang, please arrange for someone to receive them at the back,” Lin Xiaowan confirmed.
“Alright, Class Monitor, I’ll go handle it,” Chen Yang responded and then hurried off.
“Su Lin, Xia Shiyu, you guys go ahead and look around, I need to make calls for restocking,” Lin Xiaowan said.
Su Lin nodded, letting Lin Xiaowan leave first.
Lin Xiaowan’s phone didn’t stop ringing until after ten o’clock, finally giving her a break. Watching trucks unloading goods at the back of the supermarket, she felt relieved.
She rubbed her slightly sore shoulders, “Ah, finally done with the calls. These suppliers are as frantic as if they’ve been injected with chicken blood.”
“But, why do I feel like I’ve forgotten something?” she wondered aloud.
Su Lin, rubbing Lin Xiaowan’s head affectionately, reminded her, “You forgot about your friend from Donghai.”
“Ah…” Lin Xiaowan gasped, “I… I forgot about Yanyan.” Just as she finished speaking, her phone rang, displaying Zhao Yanyan’s name.
Su Lin, pulling Xia Shiyu to the side, remarked, “Hey, I reminded her several times earlier, but she didn’t hear me even once?”
Xia Shiyu nodded, “Xiaowan has indeed been too busy. With so many suppliers and so much stock to replenish, she hasn’t had a moment’s rest.”
Su Lin nodded in agreement, “Later on, let’s have Chen Yang handle some of the less important suppliers. If we keep this up, there will be no time to rest.”
“Hehe, won’t that make Chen Yang even busier?” Xia Shiyu asked.
“Hmm? It’s for training his ability,” Su Lin said sternly.
Chen Yang, bustling around nearby, suddenly shivered, “Eh! Why did I just shiver? It must be because I’ve been resting too little recently. Ah, after these three days of the May Day holiday, I really need a good rest.”
