Chapter 367 - 368: So Close Yet So Far (4)
But when it came to conveying this, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything. He couldn’t afford to miss the banquet as Yang Mogui had ensured that his presence was necessary. As for Siyi, he couldn’t feel at ease about it either, and occasionally, he would still need to check on things there.
After much thought, he ended up where he had started. Qin Zhiyou turned the doorknob and entered the study.
As soon as he stepped out of the door, Lu Weixi’s gaze followed him.
She only had a glimpse before the closing door obstructed her view, only showing her the wooden door panel.
It was late at night, the clock had struck eleven, she had bathed and was now lying under the covers resting.
She used to be a cheerfully candid person, speaking her mind without hesitation. But after her family’s misfortune, she became more introverted, and could not talk about her personal matters with strangers. Apart from her mother and Xue Feifei, there seemed to be no one else to listen to her thoughts.
Lu Weixi had always been a weak-nerved person with light sleep. Her mind was occupied with troubles, causing her to toss and turn, and she simply couldn’t sleep.
As for Qin Zhiyou, whilst he appeared to be a suave, overbearing man, deep inside, he was indifferent and cold, never revealing his deepest thoughts to anyone.
Being married to Qin Zhiyou for five years, their interactions were mostly physical with almost no emotional communication in private. It was only recently because of her mother’s illness that she had a heartfelt conversation with him. Although he was stingy, he still approved her request.
Unlike her previous relationship with Qin Zhigu, where they discussed their studies, ideals, literature, films, and had endless private conversations. They couldn’t wait to disclose everything that happened throughout their day to each other.
With Qin Zhiyou, they had never watched a movie together, never been shopping together, and had no dates. All the typical romantic activities between couples, lovers, they simply had none. Besides staying in the same bedroom together every day, they were essentially strangers to each other.
Even if she didn’t hate Qin Zhiyou as much now, there was a vast distance to becoming a trusting couple. As for talking about love, it was a lofty topic she had never even considered.
Lu Weixi shifted her position, about to contemplate something, when she heard the door lock gently turn. Soon, the door squeaked open and Qin Zhiyou tiptoed in.
She quickly shut her eyes and pretended to be asleep, daring not to move at all.
Qin Zhiyou had already taken a shower and changed into his pajamas. When he entered the room, he noticed that the lights were off, and Lu Weixi was already in bed.
He gently closed the door and slowly walked to the side of the bed, tiptoeing under the covers.
The room was silent, and the woman next to him was motionless, probably deep in sleep. Qin Zhiyou knew she was a light sleeper, so he didn’t dare disturb her, quietly lying next to her.
But Qin Zhiyou was not one for doing nothing. After lying for a while and noting that Lu Weixi didn’t wake up, he gradually moved closer to her and encircled her body with his arm. Lu Weixi was mentally complaining, she knew that this stingy person wouldn’t keep still!
Seeing that Lu Weixi didn’t move, Qin Zhiyou became increasingly bold, and his fingers tentatively reached for her face…
