Chapter 47 - 47 Distance (3)
Qin Zhiyou glanced at Secretary Wang’s grubby black Volkswagen, then at Lu Weixi’s little white runaround car, his lips purse tightly. However, in the next second, he strode forward without hesitation, his target being—the back seat of the little runaround car.
Lu Weixi had just started her car and hadn’t even left the villa gate when she saw Qin Zhiyou opening the door and getting in. She was taken aback, and before she could react, Secretary Wang also hopped into the back seat and greeted her, “Hello Young Madam.”
Lu Weixi was startled, quickly stomped on the brakes, and turned her head to look at them with surprise, “You guys?”
Qin Zhiyou was puckering up his lips, looking grim. It was Secretary Wang who explained, “The Mercedes frequently used by Director Qin was sent for maintenance yesterday. His other cars are parked in the company’s parking lot, and I don’t have the keys. So, I am sorry for bothering you this morning, Young Madam.”
Upon hearing his words, Qin Zhiyou’s brows furrowed even tighter. He grumbled unhappily, “If your Volkswagen wasn’t that dirty, would I need to squeeze into this junk car?”
Lu Weixi’s temples were throbbing. True, her little car might be humble, but at least it wasn’t broken down. She felt like retorting that it must be the poor quality of the Mercedes that led to it breaking down, not maintenance concerns.
The backseat of the little car was cramped. With Secretary Wang sitting here as well, the space was bound to get tighter. The moment Secretary Wang’s clothes brushed against Qin Zhiyou’s elbow, his eyes widened, and he jerked his hand away, wearing an expression that seemed to say, “Don’t touch me.” Secretary Wang immediately suggested to Lu Weixi, “Young Madam, shall I drive instead? I’ll drop you off at the company first, then drive Director Qin, and afterwards return here. It will be convenient for you and won’t cause any delays.”
Having seen the situation from her rear-view mirror, Lu Weixi did not object but simply said, “You can use my car, but I have a condition.”
Qin Zhiyou instantly looked up, his brows deeply furrowed. Secretary Wang hurriedly asked, “What condition?”
Lu Weixi took out a fine ticket from her bag that was issued the night before last and handed it to Secretary Wang. “It was issued when I dropped him off the night before last. Please reimburse me. It’s not much, just 200 yuan. Consider it the fare.”
Qin Zhiyou:”…!”
Secretary Wang even suspected that if the person in front of him wasn’t Lu Weixi, Qin Zhiyou would probably feel like hitting someone. He quickly stored the parking ticket and responded cheerfully, “It’s a small matter, a small matter.”
He then got up immediately, came around, and exchanged seats with Lu Weixi.
After Lu Weixi got into the back, even though Qin Zhiyou looked disgruntled, he, at least, didn’t say anything more. The little car sped along. Since the vehicle was small and the back seat space limited, it was indeed a bit uncomfortable for Qin Zhiyou’s long legs. Lu Weixi felt the same. Being in the back seat meant inevitable bumps. Luckily, even though Qin Zhiyou had an unhappy expression, he didn’t react as he had when Secretary Wang bumped into him. In fact, at one point, Lu Weixi felt a little squeeze, as if Qin Zhiyou had moved closer to her. She started thinking maybe the little Chang’an car was indeed a little too compact, and when she had the money later, she must consider replacing it with another vehicle.
The car zoomed down the road. With the morning rush hour traffic, it was a bit congested on the roads. The cab of the little runaround car was clearly less stable than that of a high-end vehicle. The chassis was unstable, and if you drove a bit fast, it would easily drift. When the traffic light turned red, Secretary Wang hit the brakes, causing her and Qin Zhiyou in the backseat to sway to and fro. Lu Weixi ended up falling into Qin Zhiyou’s arms..
