Chapter 74: Doesn’t Seem Like Myself at

After finishing her words, she left the private room, intending to leave directly down the stairs. But she found out that a heavy rain was suddenly pouring outside. Xia Yanyan was being ushered into her car by the horde of bodyguards, while Ye Xingguang was scared by the heavy rain and went back into the lobby.

She pulled out her phone to call a ride. The phone showed that the car would only arrive in five minutes, so she opted to wait in the lobby.

The lobby was quiet and almost devoid of people. Her gaze unintentionally fell upon a corner of the lobby where a piano was situated by the floor-to-ceiling window.

She was fond of the piano.

She had a neighbor named Shen who played the piano especially well. In her childhood, she would often pop into old grandmother Shen’s home, where Shen would teach her to play whenever she had free time.

Perhaps it was because she was feeling smothered, but she couldn’t resist approaching the piano.

“Han Han, you don’t know how successful your concert was last night. Your new single ‘Against the Wind’ has climbed to second place on the music charts. Apart from Xia Yanyan, no one else can overshadow you. Of course, we can’t compare with Xia Yanyan; she’s like a mermaid, whose musical cells are naturally stronger than normal people. Your status in the pop music industry stands firm; to say that you are second to none would not be an exaggeration!” Fan Yuwen said excitedly while looking at the charts on his phone.

Ling Han didn’t speak. Her mentor, instead, chuckled and said, “If there are good songs, you could compete with Xia Yanyan on the charts. It’s just a shame that good composers are so rare these days.”

“Mr. Zhou, don’t worry. Ling Han is a key individual that our company is focusing on cultivating. We will definitely create the best songs tailor-made for her…

Before Fan Yuwen could finish his sentences, he gets cut off by Master Zhou: “Shush, be quiet!”

Master Zhou is the street artist Ling Han met at the mall entrance years ago. To this day, Ling Han still feels as though this is all a dream.

Fan Yuwen, perplexed, asked, “Master Zhou, why…” “Listen.” Master Zhou pointed to his ear.

A subdued, melancholic piano melody drifted out.

The tune was unique, something Master Zhou had never heard before. Every note seemed imbued with a spellbinding power that touched the heartstrings of the listeners.

Fan Yuwen might not understand, but with decades of musical experience, Master Zhou had discovered a treasure at first hearing, just as he had when he discovered Ling Han three years ago in front of the shopping mall. Master Zhou followed the sound and hurried down the stairs.

By the time he reached the lobby, the piano sound had stopped abruptly.

There was nobody at the piano by the floor-to-ceiling window, with only the white, gauzy curtains swaying gently with the wind. The heart-wrenching love song that someone had just played here still hung in the air like the sweet aftertaste of a sour love affair.

Master Zhou regretted deeply in his heart. Where was the person?

Ye Xingguang got into a taxi and left the restaurant.

She rested her head lightly against the window, slowly closing her eyes. She could not understand why she kept hearing echoes of Ye Junqings stern voice inside her head.

They say that people who don’t matter won’t affect one’s feelings!

To her, Ye Junqing was just an unimportant person. Why was she upset because Ye Junqing got angry on behalf of Xia Yanyan?

This wasn’t like her at all!

After thinking about it, she concluded that it must be due to her upcoming period!

Hormonal imbalance!

Right, that’s it!

A thunderclap roared, and the rumbling echo filled the summer night. It was so loud that even the people in the private room could hear.. Ye Junqing checked the time; how could a trip to the restroom take this long? Wasn’t she scared of thunder?
