The panicked and scared Li Jiaqing finally relaxed when the group of campus security guards arrived. Because he knew them well enough, his courage returned.

“What’s going on?” bellowed the lead guard who was wider but not large, swinging his baton around. “What is this commotion? Which faculty are you from? Today is just the first day and you guys are already fighting? Do you want to get demerits?”

Due to his affiliation with the university’s martial arts team, Jin Qicai and the security guards knew each other to a certain extent. The temperamental Jin Qicai jumped to his feet and ran towards the guards as if they were the saviors he needed. He grabbed onto the fat guard’s arm, and complaints started to pour from his mouth like a running faucet.

“They are first-year students. And just because they know a little martial arts, they started the fight!” claimed Jin Qicai, pointing at Luo Ziling and Cao Jianhui.

“Respected security guards, look what they did to us! All my friends were beaten by them and I was even badly wounded! I beseech you to enact the most appropriate punishment! Ack… this is painful… I need to go to a hospital fast.”

Now, since these guards knew who Jin Qicai was, they also knew that he was the vice president of the university’s martial arts club. On average days, he liked to parade around campus with a small group of lackeys, and fight other students. His lackeys were there only to create noise.

That was their usual impression of him. Hence, seeing that the bully was now claiming to be the one being bullied, the guards were perplexed.

The first-year students who had supposedly bullied Jin Qicai and his friends were just a four-man group, whereas Jin Qicai had more than ten men on his side. Moreover, he was the vice president of the university’s martial arts club. How could he be defeated by a bunch of first-year students?

After assessing the four first-year students, the guards turned to Li Jiaqing, who was slowly trying to retreat.

Li Jiaqing was the son of a not-your-average-joe family. That, they knew well. They also knew that Jin Qicai was Li Jiaqing’s underling on campus. It was safe to say that Jin Qicai was Li Jiaqing’s muscle.

Even though they weren’t always on the lookout for poor souls to bully, they would often fight those weaker than them. Nothing good ever came from crossing their path. With that said, who were these four first-year students and what had they done to wrong Li Jiaqing?

Yenching University was a den of crouching tigers and hidden dragons. There were many sons and daughters of families whose statuses were not for the public to know. They purposely came here in order to hide their identities and gain knowledge in certain fields.

Usually, they would do what they could to keep a low profile, never doing anything to gain public attention. That being said, if you dare to pluck the dragon’s whiskers, then expect nothing but wrathful retribution.

Since the group of four weren’t afraid, it was easy to guess that they had displayed their prowess in martial arts. Although the security guards weren’t there to witness how Luo Ziling was the one who kicked Jin Qicai to the ground, they could speculate that these four had to be strong to defeat more than ten men.

In the end, the fat security guard took the four of them into custody, and escorted them to the station for further processing. On their way, the man in charge—the same fat guard—nodded discreetly to the tall, skinny guard and gave him a certain look.

The guard noticed the look and quickly came to his side, where the fat one whispered something. He wanted the skinny one to investigate the identities and backgrounds of all four students. The skinny one nodded and went a separate way.

Luo Ziling and Cao Jianhui were both calm and composed, not resisting as they were taken into custody. Including Li Fuming and Wu Longjiang, the four of them walked in a single file, following the lead security guard to the campus’ security box.

As they walked, Cao Jianhui whispered, telling Luo Ziling not to worry. He took out his mobile phone and dialed a number.

“Bro, I fought someone around the campus area. The others started beating us first. But it looks like I’m still going to be the scapegoat here…”

“Excuse me? You’re not going to do anything?”

“Fine. I don’t mind if you don’t want to help. As long as you don’t mind if I tell our parents about your activities…”

Cao Jianhui ended the call with an angry huff.

Walking beside Cao Jianhui, Luo Ziling overheard the full conversation and was genuinely surprised. Even so, he withheld any questions he may have about it.

Meanwhile, Ouyang Huihui and Li Jiaqing were walking together. She slowed her pace when they were near the security box, and a curious Li Jiaqing followed suit. She gestured for him to follow her.

The two left the group and had a conversation over at a nearby tree. Once it was over, Li Jiaqing’s expression turned sour.

Soon after, he returned and announced, “Right. We will not pursue any further action against them.” He turned to his own group. “Let’s go.”

Before leaving, he tapped the lead guard and whispered something into his ear. After hearing what he had to say, the lead guard’s mouth was left agape. He said nothing and quickly released Luo Ziling and everyone else.

Jin Qicai was the most surprised by the ending but he quieted down after Li Jiaqing gave him a certain look.

Li Jiaqing and the severely injured Jin Qicai walked far away before they started to discuss what happened. Cao Jianhui and the rest looked at each other, wondering what was happening.

“What’s going on…” asked Cao Jianhui. “How could they just leave like that?” Realizing something was wrong, he yelled disgruntledly at the guards, “How could you just let them go? They’re the ones who started the fight! We were the ones who got attacked! They owe us an apology!”

He had just been on the phone with his elder brother, asking him to contact the school. The call had ended with Cao Jianhui taking a gamble on his fate. However, things somehow got settled and his offender left, leaving him in a state of intense dissatisfaction.

“Enough. If they don’t want to take any further action, we shall do the same too,” said Luo Ziling.

In contrast to Cao Jianhui, Luo Ziling was incredibly relieved. He was afraid of getting things too… messy. The last thing he wanted was trouble on his first day on campus. The same thought had been on his mind when he accidentally let himself fight Jin Qicai.

Be that as it may, it was better to have less problems than more. In the end, even he knew that this was the result of him getting involved with Ouyang Feifei.

Li Jiaqing and his crowd had probably left as per Ouyang Huihui’s wishes. Perhaps like Luo Ziling, she too was afraid of things spiralling out of control.

Cao Jianhui was still angry. He went ahead and lashed out at the poor guards, venting his rage on them. Seeing that they had allowed Li Jiaqing and his cronies to leave, there was obviously foul play at work here. Though Cao Jianhui was mad, in the end, Luo Ziling managed to drag him away.

Only when both groups of troublemakers left did the guards relax.

The fat guard whispered to the skinny guard, “Are they anyone special?”

“Captain, the student called Cao Jianhui is probably from a powerful family. The other three are just average joes,” said the skinny one, “However, my cousin brother could only investigate so much with his limited connections. He would never be able to find out who the real big shots are!”

The fat one asked again, “What about the beautiful lady? From the looks of it, she might be special. Do you have any information about her?”

The skinny one shook his head. “No. There is nothing about her. That being said, I’m sure she must be an important person or Li Jiaqing would not have listened to her.”

“Let’s just be glad that they didn’t make a bigger deal of things,” said the fat one, sighing loudly.

He was incredibly scared of students with powerful backgrounds making trouble on campus. Those kinds of trouble were the hardest to solve.

“Well, it’s over now. They don’t want trouble and neither do we. The one who fought the best and that fat one… we need to remember them. Never will we get on their bad side.”

“We understand, Captain!”
