Chapter 18 - 18 Critical Strike
Editor: Exodus Tales
Entering his house with the smoke wild boar meat in tow, Lu Chen noticed a silhouette busily working around in the house.
At the same time, he noticed that although it was still simple and crude, his room was much cleaner than before. The dirty clothes in the room were washed and hung up outside under the sun.
Lu Chen nodded in satisfaction with the changes in the house.
Indeed, a housemaid helps a lot.
“Master, you are back.”
The young girl Lu Chen picked saw Lu Chen’s return and she hurriedly greeted Lu Chen.
Seeing her action, Lu Chen once again confirmed that she wasn’t a barbarian girl but an outsider who somehow ended up here in the Wilderness. After all, the barbarians didn’t have any greetings.
However, Lu Chen paid no mind to the young girl’s past.
He casually placed the wild boar meat on the rack and said, “From now on, you will stay in the side room. Your daily duties include washing clothes, cooking, and cleaning. When I need you, I will call you. When you have nothing important to inform me of, don’t come looking for me. Understand?”
“Yes, master.”
“Good. Remember this, I will kick you out if you trouble me unnecessarily.”
After he was done talking, Lu Chen walked directly back to his room. He closed his eyes and sensed the undulating energy in his body and nodded satisfyingly.
Then, Lu Chen called up the system page again, the changes in the page were immense.

[Strength +3, Reduced Neural Stimulus of Pain by 30%, Battle Spirit +1, Mindfulness -1.]
[Boiling Blood can be leveled up. Mastery Points to level up: 100.]
Longsword Mastery, Boiling Blood, are they the class skills of Swordsman and Barbarian Blood Warrior? Not bad. But this Boiling Blood, it actually reduces my Mindfulness. I did not see that coming.
This was the first time Lu Chen saw a negative in Attributes. But soon, Lu Chen understood why it was like that.
Increasing the blood flow will also excite my battle spirit, but at the same time, it will also stimulate my emotions, making it easier to lose control of myself. Seems like I will have to be careful when using this skill.
After he looked at the Boiling Blood, Lu Chen turned his eyes on Longsword Mastery. Soon, Lu Chen realized that Swordsmanship and its related skills were all passive skills. Whether it be Longsword Mastery or Basic Sword Skill, they all had been imparted into Lu Chen’s mind already.
Now, Lu Chen was equivalent to a swordsman who had at least 3 years of experience practicing swordsmanship. He was able to wield a longsword like an actual sword user.
Even when Basic Sword Skill looks useless unlike the Boiling Blood that adds to my basic stats, what it offers is exactly what I need. With the sword skills, I am more prepared to battle.
It was at this moment that Lu Chen realized that the class skills he automatically learned from the classes of Swordsman and Barbarian Blood Warrior were basic but extremely useful. They were exactly what he needed.
After he was done with the basic skills, Lu Chen looked at the skill that the system drew for him.
Because he specialized in two classes, there were also two skills that were drawn to him. These two skills really did make Lu Chen feel like he was the son of the Goddess of Luck herself.
One Silver, one Gold. I never thought my luck in this world would be this good.
As he thought, he looked at the descriptions of the skills. The first one he looked at was Critical Strike.
The Critical Strike. It was a skill from a class of strong and powerful heroes named Blademasters in the game World of Warcraft III.
Skills such as Wind Walk allowed them to become invisible and move faster; Mirror Image that confuses enemy by creating illusions of the Blademasters; Critical Strike that gave them a certain chance to deal a few times more damage on their attacks; and last but not least, their ultimate skill—Bladestorm. These skilled swordsmen mastered powerful skills that made them killing machines in the battlefields.
And the skill that Lu Chen was given was the third skill mastered by the Blademaster—Critical Strike. A skill that gave a certain chance to deal a few times more damage in his attacks.
The description of the skill in the game was:
Critical Strike (Passive): Gives a 15% chance that the Blademaster will do more damage on his attacks.
Level 1: 15% chance to deal 2 times normal damage.
Level 2: 15% chance to deal 3 times normal damage.
Level 3: 15% chance to deal 4 times normal damage.
The description was simple and straightforward but also showed just how incredible the skill was. When leveled up to level 3, one could deal 4 times their normal damage output to the opponents. This would scare anyone from picking a fight with him.
Those were only the descriptions in the game back then, but now, it was coming true in the real world when the skill was fused into Lu Chen’s body.
Whereas in the real world, the skill’s description also changed by a lot.
[Critical Strike (Silver) (Beginner): The structure of a human body is complex. Usually, only a limited number of muscles were used during a human’s normal daily activities. The strength that was utilized was not even 10% of its full strength. Learning this skill granted the host a special hand technique to allow them to utilize more muscles when attacking the enemy.]
[When the host used the hand technique correctly, the host’s strength will increase by a hundred percent.]
Lu Chen looked at the descriptions of the skill and recalled a special stance that was imparted in his mind. Then, he started testing it out in his room.
He stood in the center of the room in the special stance and he immediately felt the changes. In this stance, he was able to use two times his usual strength. Which meant that if he attacked now, his attack would be two times stronger than normal.
But soon, Lu Chen frowned softly. The stance was strong, granting him access to more muscles to enhance his strength and his attacks but to use it in the battles, there was a short buffer time required before going into the stance.
That’s why he frowned. Sometimes, there simply wasn’t any room to take such a pause in battles.
After testing it out for some time, Lu Chen couldn’t help but sigh.
I should’ve known. The Silver-grade skill is still flawed compared to the Gold-grade skill!
Until now, Lu Chen also understood the meanings of the grades of the skills. Bronze were the basic skills, Silver skills were strong but flawed, and Gold skills were all-powerful.
That said, even when Critical Strike had its flaw, it didn’t stop it from becoming a strong skill. Two times the normal damage meant that he would be able to crush a formidable opponent in one go.
The battle between Lu Chen and Xiao Shi today was a good example of it. The hundred percent boost in strength from the Undying Rage made it possible for Lu Chen to defeat Xiao Shi in a strike.
And now, other than Undying Rage, Lu Chen had a new trump card.
Most importantly, Undying Rage was driven by Fury, it called upon a mysterious force that boosted his strength while on the other hand, Critical Strike was a technique that unlocked the hidden power in the muscles to unleash stronger attacks. They were skills based on two different systems.
Meaning, it was possible for Lu Chen to use the two skills together simultaneously.
Imagine using Critical Strike with Undying Rage in effect. I can deal 4 times the normal damage in a strike, who can possibly stand against me now?
