Chapter 681 Finale (1)
Layla sat cross-legged in midair near the Macabre Glacier.
She was busy keeping up-to-date with the rest of her forces after leaving Obstruction to deal with Kyran. At the same time, she was also replenishing her almost depleted internal magic energy. She did use up a lot of magic energy to help Osric and Gael recover earlier before her unexpected confrontation against White Lily.
Speaking of which, Layla recalled Kyran\'s sudden appearance that saved White Lily. Layla admitted she felt a tinge of bitterness seeing him protect her. But that was only a passing emotion because what really took over her emotion at that moment was surprise. Because as far as Layla knew, Kyran was busy trying to save the rest of his allies from her forces.
Besides, The Conclave, which was considered Kyran\'s biggest support was on the verge of collapse because Layla had Osric led the attack in the Tower of Conclave. With the latter\'s advantage in mage level and an overwhelming number in terms of mage and combat mages, only a miracle could save the Conclave.
Layla already considered the Conclave\'s downfall to be a priority. Since she believed they were the ones who could have the biggest chance in threatening her side because of their abundance in resources and manpower.
But then, they discovered they were also hiding Haylee\'s other-half. In that moment, Layla immediately agreed to support Osric\'s endeavor 100%.
For this reason, Layla approved the use of one of her trump cards— the dummies, and even had Gael follow through, taking along with him the Royal Army\'s Special Ops and her priced \'soldiers.\'
Layla believed Kyran would definitely try to save the Conclave. Not only because they were his greatest support, but because of Haylee\'s other-half.
If Layla had to be honest, she was a little peeved at the thought that Kyran had been hiding Haylee\'s other-half all this time. No wonder Kyran as Disciple Tyr was not that affected by Haylee\'s beauty. He was already immune to her beauty because there was someone close to him who looked exactly like her.
In any case, Layla was still surprised when she discovered Kyran indeed went to the Tower of Conclave and protect Haylee\'s other-half. Based on what she remembered about the Regis Family, it would have been better for Kyran to kill Haylee\'s other-half to deal a huge blow on Layla.
But Kyran did no such thing and even prioritize protecting her over helping his allies in the Lumley Ancestral Lands who were already on their last leg.
Nevertheless, Layla believed that even if Kyran appeared in the Tower of Conclave to save them and prevent Osric from capturing Haylee\'s other-half, he would be unable to resolve the problem in a short span of time.
Since Osric had the dummies and Gael had Layla\'s priced \'soldiers,\' Kyran would definitely have a harder time.
Or so, Layla believed this. Because the dummies would definitely scare the Conclave with their seemingly undying nature. As for her \'soldiers,\' Gael had taken them into his shadow and integrated them into his puppet Shadows. Since these \'soldiers\' were only souls and would not be able to fully utilize their might without a body, Gael used his Shadow magic ti provide them with temporary bodies. Although they could still not use their full might, at least they were enough to keep Kyran busy.
Who would have thought that not only did they not pose any threat to Kyran. He even let a summoned orbs deal with Layla\'s soldiers?
This actually shocked Layla because it was a testament on how much control and master Kyran had over his Void magic. Not to mention, if a mere summoned orbs— which couldd be considered normal magic attack— could fight Layla\'s soldiers, how would a \'powerful\' magic attack would fair against them?
They would definitely be annihilated. Still, they were not and Kyran only maintain his orbs and deal with them, while he dealt with the matters of Osric, Gael and the Special Ops at the same time.
Alas, not one part of Layla\'s projected scenario happened because she misjudged the current Void Master\'s strength. Although her force\'s number advantage caused the Conclave to end up on a verge of collapse, Kyran\'s sudden appearance, everything turned in a blink of an eye.
Layla knew how powerful a Void mage could be. She had witnessed a supposed \'normal\' Caelan become the most feared mage in the Human plane after awakening his Void magic, after all.
But Caelan did not become the feared Dark Sage overnight. It did not even take him months to become one of the most powerful mages in the Human plane.
It took Caelan years— more than a decade even.
What about Kyran? He had only awaken a few months ago. How did he become so powerful all of a sudden?
Layla\'s doubts were actually reasonable because she did not know about the Tower of Tribulations. Although she was aware that most of the outsiders knew the \'Dark Sage.\' She believed they were referring to Caelan. Nevertheless, she only knew the latter became famous outside the Human plane because he inherited the original Dark Sage\'s legacy.
Putting the matter of Kyran\'s absurd sudden rise in strength, Layla sent out an order to the rest of her forces to march to the Tower of Conclave and retrieve both Osric and Haylee\'s other-half.
After that, she ordered them to regroup before going to the Regis Estate.
The confrontation between her and the new Dark Sage had gone for some time and to be honest, dragging it further was not beneficial to her— not when her body was still incomplete.
All of this began when the Royal Army raided the Regis Estate, and so, Layla thought it was only fitting to end it all in that place as well.
Since Obstruction already did her a favor by transporting her and the Macabre Glacier directly above the Regis Estate, she would definitely seize this moment to end it all.
To be honest, Layla coveted everything the Regis had. It was not only their powerful bodies, but also their land.
The reason they were able to develop whilst closing their doors to the outside world was because the land their estate stood had an abundance of resources— not to mention, magic energies.
While it was true that every location of the Ancestral Lands and the Royal Palace in the Yflaen Empire possessed an abundance of resources and magic energies, the Regis Estate\'s location surpassed it all.
Layla did not know why, but as far as she remembered, it had not been the case a thousand years ago. It used to be in the land called Shaiha.
But the Shaiha and the Regis Estate had something in common.
Both lands were occupied by the Regis Family. Because of this, Layla believed everything had something to do with the secret of the Regis Family. It might even have something to do with their bloodline.
Whatever the reason was, Layla was determined this time around to win over the Regis.
She had already taken the first step in order to achieve this, which was to imprison the souls of most of their members.
If everything went according to her scenario, then she would finally get hold of the most powerful \'undying\' army. It would not even compare to Haylee\'s plan of creating puppets to house Layla\'s soldiers.
For this reason, Layla ignored everything and only focused on recuperating.
Alas, just when she was about to complete her recuperation, a huge golden array appeared in the sky.
Layla could no longer ignore what was happening around her. Not when she finally realized Obstruction was already at a disadvantageous position!
\'How could this be…?\' Layla wondered, her eyes widened in disbelief.
Obstruction\'s did not seem to be affected by the Human plane\'s restrictions and yet he was actually overwhelmed by Kyran?
Layla\'s eyes narrowed as she let her magic sense feel out what was happening.
Unfortunately, no matter how powerful her magic sense was a thousand years ago, her incomplete body prevented her from fully utilizing it.
Still, the range at which her magic sense occupied was enough to gauge the situation.
\'W-What?\' Layla exclaimed in her heart as she discovered that the bodies of the Regis clan members were no longer inside the building she placed them in.
Not only that, she did not sense Kyran anywhere near the floating Ravenpass, while Obstruction was being bombarded by several offensive arrays above.
Now, there was also a huge array above the Regis Estate and Layla sensed the land shook violently.
After which, she sensed a very powerful aura erupting in every direction. It was followed by an almost palpable pressure that could suffocate anyone below a Magus!
\'This…!\' Layla\'s pupils constricted as she recognized the powerful aura.
There were only three instances she had encountered that aura and each time, she saw its improvement.
The first time, it was not that potent but it was enough to shook every demons. After all, the \'thing\' that which possessed the aura easily destroyed an army in one fell swoop.
The second time, its appearance changed and its aura become even more domineering.
The third time, its appearance had gotten way bigger and its aura more terrifying. After all, it had actually transported thousands of mages in one go!
At that same time, Kyran looked at True Void\'s glowing body and was stunned at the aura he emitted.
\'No way,\' he thought. \'Don\'t tell me the Grand Array is actually a sealing array that sealed True Void\'s real body!\'
