Chapter 470 Defeat-1!
Chapter 470 Defeat-1!
" See? I told you everything will be fine. My boys are battle-hardened; these types of low-intensity scenarios are nothing for them." Huxley began praising his team when they relayed that they had the package in their hand.
" Hmm, what about the others? You have confirmation that they didn\'t harm anyone, right?" Merikh asked seriously.
" Are you worried about that Rothschild brat? I don\'t understand why everyone has been talking about him lately." Huxley was visibly annoyed hearing his tone.
Without even saying Samuel\'s name, he knew what Merikh was referring to. Because when they first arrived in the country, his name was all over the news. Most people didn\'t know about his actor identity, but it was too obvious for people like them.
Knowing that the idol group was somewhat connected to him and that he hadn\'t left the country yet because he was messing around with them on the stage made them aware that they cared about them at some level.
Huxley wanted to ignore it and was ready to use force if necessary, but Merikh had always been a careful type. From his perspective, it was clear that if they wanted to, they could easily take care of people like Samuel, but for some reason, his heart was always uneasy when he heard his name.
It\'s not like they didn\'t hear about his recent incursion with the \'other\' family on North American soil. Many rumours were floating around in the underworld about his solo feat, but most were dismissed.
Even in the six families, no one could take on the whole mob organization alone without their \'special\' devices. For Samuel to have them was near impossible; even if Rothschild appeared as the strongest in the world on the surface, the six prominent families didn\'t put them in their eyes.
Rothschilds could barely conceal their movement from the branch families, so if the central family took action, Huxley was confident they could wipe out their pesky existence. This made him cocky, having such a backing; why should he be afraid of a little kid from a backwater family?
" You and I both know what\'s at stake! If anything goes wrong, it\'s not only me, but it will also complicate things for your-"
" I get it now! Stop saying the same fucking thing over and over again! I have especially arranged an extended package for our deal this time." Huxley said with a meaningful smile. But the reaction of Merikh dropped listening to him.
He knew Huxley was an ambitious man, and his movements were unpredictable, to say the least. It was one of the reasons he stayed this close to the mission to prevent Huxley from making any unnecessary movements. It was a matter of life and death for Merikh; the same couldn\'t be said for Huxley, who could mask his involvement due to his vast influence and cunning personality.
Hearing Huxley say he did something behind his back was a shocking thing to hear. Who knew what this madman was up to, so he immediately asked for answers.
" What the fuck? Are you running another operation without consulting me?"
" Haha, no need to be this tense old man! I only send someone to look for another member of the group. You know what would happen if word got out somehow, right? They could communicate back and forth, so I only needed someone to watch them."
" That\'s-" Merikh wanted to say something, but hearing him talk about precaution didn\'t seem bad. It was vital to keep the information contained before they safely extracted the package out of the country.
" Don\'t worry, I put my best agent, an expert in covert operations. No one would even know he was there. We only need a few hours; before you know it, we will be out of this country!"
Just as he finished speaking, he heard several voices through the peripherals. He never thought he would be hearing several codes right now!
" Fuck! What happened?" He yelled and was overwhelmed with different chatter.
" We are under attack!"
" Shit! They are too fast!"
" Man down!"
" Protect the package, don\'t let them take it!"
It was internal communications, but Huxley knew that something went wrong. No one was listening to his command due to being besieged at their rendezvous point. It was hard to imagine that some would tip about their through plan, but seeing the evidence, he knew someone did it!
".." Merikh was holding his breath; he couldn\'t even say anything, just listened to the team conversation. Wasn\'t it supposed to be the best in the business? Who were these people that were suppressing them so efficiently?
Huxley was shocked; he kept repeatedly saying to abandon everything, only focusing on the package, but even then, they took casualties every second. He knew that although he only had ten or so people for the mission, their base had his family\'s original soldiers, even if only five of them existed.
Each was equivalent to a hundred-man army and was carefully nurtured from childhood. Millions of dollars were spent on even a low-level asset, but even then, they could challenge any other organization.
It was that wide of a gap because of particular drugs and various experiments secretly carried out on these people for decades. But were such personnel actually being suppressed? Who would believe that?
" I will provide an opening, take the package and leave."
" Understood."
After a few minutes, only two people could be heard talking. Huxley knew these people; they were loaned assets he borrowed from his senior. They were from the team that protected the central lineage of his family. It restored some of his confidence; if these people were giving their lives, there was a sliver of the chance they could still salvage their primary objective.
" Why are we not getting any visuals?" Merikh asked, finally noticing the anomaly.
" There must be some malfunction. It will be fine as long as he leaves through the exfil." Huxley couldn\'t bother to find out the problem. He was more aware that a force that could take out his men was well in the range of jamming their equipment. Fortunately, they were successful in listening to their dialogue; otherwise, he would have gone mad with anxiety!
" Who are you?" Suddenly, he heard an unfamiliar voice.
" Fuck! My cover is blown-" Before the asset could say anything, a loud voice permeated through the speaker, and it cut off completely.
Huxley and Merikh were left speechless in their chairs without knowing what to do next. Over! Their lives were over! They fell into depression just thinking about the outcome of the mission.
