Chapter 198 – Cat Dad Cultivates Hard

Ultra-Rare?

“My poop is ultra-rare?! What the hell?!”

Taotie cackled again, ‘I know right? When I was stuck in the church, those cultists and priests kept asking me to create some for them, but I always refused. I secretly shat some and mixed it with their food sometimes. Mimir caught me red-handed, and I stopped doing that ever since.’

“I didn’t ask you for that.”

‘But I want you to know. KYAHAHAHAHA!’

Xiaomao shook his head at Taotie’s childishness. He turned his attention to the scroll, wondering if there were more tips or tricks that he hadn’t learned.

LESSON TWO!

Now that you know how to convert materials into energy and money, you are ready to learn some wicked techniques of mine!

However, this ability is very dangerous and flashy. You need one of your spiritual roots to be higher than 100,000 first! Without this qualification, it won’t work.

Xiaomao facepalmed. He grumbled and cursed at Taotie for giving him a technique that he couldn’t learn.

“What is this for, senior? My highest spiritual root is lightning, and it’s not even 10,000 yet. Why did you give me something impossible?”

‘Read to the end, you dumb cat.’

“…”

Xiaomao continued reading.

However, there is an exception. This requirement can be bypassed if you practice it before you become a second-stage mortal cultivator! If you are a first-stage cultivator, you are eligible to practice this cultivation method!

The method is simple. You must empty your mind and focus solely on your strongest spiritual roots. Use the weakest spell of that element, then you eat it!

Xiaomao’s expression turned blank. He wondered why all of Taotie’s techniques revolved around eating something unusual.

“Eating my own spell? I just ate something nonsense, and you want me to eat my magic?”

‘Yes. YOU MUST EAT EVERYTHING, including your strongest spells!’

“Haiz.”

Xiaomao began to worry about his future. Still, he continued reading to the end. Then, he started examining Mimir’s two books.

A couple of days later

South Korea, Seoul Metropolis

Seo Jungwoo slowly climbed out of his gaming capsule in the early morning as usual. He scratched the fluffy ears on top of his head, which resembled tiger ears.

Jungwoo yawned and scratched his belly button while he walked toward the kitchen. Then, he opened the refrigerator, looking for something to eat and drink. However, the fridge was empty.

“Ah, crap. I need to go out again.”

Jungwoo sighed and rubbed his eyes. His feet automatically brought him to the bathroom.

DING

A game message appeared in front of him.

[Byakko Instinct]: The tournament is tomorrow. Are you nervous?

“Nah. It’s an individual tournament, not the immortal one. I don’t think I’ll be fighting Hiiro. I heard he’s gunning for the immortal tournament.”

[Byakko Instinct]: You should have joined a guild or something. The guild war’s prize is much more generous.

“Let’s participate in something that we can surely win. I don’t want to join any guild. Those selfish bastards always demand all items and gold coins from their members as taxes. Hell, I bet they know about the game’s secrets.”

[Byakko Instinct]: You’re no different from them or Hiiro though. You’ve monopolized everything in the Beast Forest.

“Thanks to my master, yeah. She’s a big shot, alright. Anyway, Tian Yuan Mountain is no joke. I don’t think we can go through Lord Ma’s trials with the game character.

[Byakko Instinct]: That’s why you should start cultivating in real life. I told you many times that you can’t rely on the synchronization rate or the game character. The real power comes from your real body and your hard work, boy.

“… Yeah. I’ll do that once I master my master’s method. I need to raise all spiritual roots to 10,000 first before I start cultivating in the real world.”

[Byakko Instinct]: That’s too slow! The other players will get their superpower first!

“Superpower is meaningless if they rely on Pangu, Nian, or Mu-Nyang’s help. It’s the foundation that counts!”

While talking to himself, Jungwoo entered his apartment’s bathroom and took off his clothes, revealing his perfect and toned chest, six packs, core muscle, and defined shoulders. He could have looked like a model or a professional boxer if he didn’t have a white tiger tail, which extended from the area above his buttocks.

Jungwoo stared into the mirror, staring at his blue sclera and black pupils. Then, he glanced toward the left, where he saw the reflection of five human limbs, crawling out from the wall.

He nonchalantly turned around. His hands transformed into tiger paws, and his claws sliced through the arms and legs like tofu.

SCREECH!

The creature screamed and retreated into the wall. The severed limbs wiggled and slowly dissipated into black ash.

But Jungwoo didn’t stop there. He punched into the bathroom wall, but his hand sank into another dimension. The wall remained intact, but a ripple-like wave distorted the surrounding air.

Jungwoo pulled out the creature from the wall and tossed it into his bathroom tub. It was an eyeball creature, which had 20 human arms and legs extending from its round body.

“Who is your boss, ghost?” Jungwoo’s calm voice echoed in the bathroom. This was not the first time that he confronted a supernatural creature in real-life.

“P-Please don’t kill me! I-I’m just a poor eyeling!”

“Answer my question, eye. WHO.IS.YOUR.BOSS?! WHO.SENT.YOU?!”

Jungwoo’s head distorted and transformed into the face of a white tiger. He glared at the monster.

Terrified, the eye monster revealed the truth.

“Lord S-Solomon, sir! I-I was sent here to monitor players and bring them to the Netherworld!”

“Again?” Jungwoo shook his head, “The last guy attacked my real body while my consciousness is in the game. I killed the fool, and he sent you next?”

“W-What?! S-So you killed the previous agent-ARGH!”

Jungwoo waved his claws and sliced the monster to pieces. The eyeball turned red, getting burnt from the inside out and disintegrated into ash.

He snorted and reverted to his original form. Then, he took the bath normally as if nothing had happened.

After taking a bath, Jungwoo returned to his room and turned on the TV, checking the morning news. He picked up the TV remote next to his bed and pressed a button.

BEEP

[Florida Eco Protestors blocked the highway and got run over by five trucks today. One of the truck drivers bragged that he did them a favor while the rest testified “We simply had one job, and we delivered!”]

BEEP

[Thailand’s parliament has legalized cryptocurrency “PACT” after confiscating 500,000 cryptocurrency wallets from local traders. Former Thais in Europe claimed that the Prime Ministers, senators, and their relatives have been stealing cryptocurrency tokens from gamers and traders.]

He ignored the irrelevant news and kept switching channels as if he was looking for something.

Suddenly, Jungwoo’s fingers stopped moving. He stared at the news channel, which only focused on tourists and general events.

Currently, it broadcasted a strange phenomenon on Jeju Island. The flowers, trees, and grasses mysteriously blossomed in a couple nights. A news reporter was on the national park near Mount Hallasan, which seemed to be the cause of this strange event.

The fog was the thickest here, and unidentified large trees emerged. As if they came from fantasy worlds, the tree barks glowed in green and produced white gas around them.

The news reporter tried to get closer to the trees, but the mist suddenly zapped the news crews, forcing them to back away.

Jungwoo narrowed his eyes, “Are they attacking Jeju Island?”

[Byakko Instinct]: Doubt it. Even if Solomon is the master of Life and Death Dao, he doesn’t mingle with poisonous gas and nature. This is not his style.

“Then, who the heck is responsible for this?”

[Byakko Instinct]: I have a few guesses, but I still need to confirm them with my own eyes. How about we go check it out? Oh, wait. The tournament starts tomorrow morning! We can’t go there now!

Jungwoo furrowed his brows. He took a deep breath.

“Fine. Let the government and Pangu’s company do their things there. If it’s really Solomon’s henchmen, we’ll do something about the island.”

In a dark cave, Xiaomao extended his legs and stretched. Then, he patted his bloated belly. A few seconds later, his belly shrank and reverted to normal.

No excrement or feces came out anymore. Xiaomao smiled and chanted.

“Nihil.”

‘Louder! Let your lung power the voice. Don’t just yell from your mouth!’

“Nihil!!”

‘That’s right! LOUDER! When you do it, don’t think! Just empty your mind as if you have no body or soul. The core of this technique is blind faith!’

“NIHIL!!”

DING

<You have successfully digested impure Qi!>

Xiaomao panted and closed his eyes, admiring the gains that he had gotten from repeating Taotie’s techniques for two days. He lost count of how much he had eaten and how many times he had diarrhea.

The hard work paid off. Xiaomao finally found a glimpse of hope and dream. He gained levels and extra health by doing stupid things, such as chanting and eating at the same time. Although Xiaomao questioned Taotie why he had to say “Nihil” every time, he still did it to experiment with the cultivation method.

And Xiaomao was not disappointed.
