Chapter 50 Outside The Barrier (5)

"Why are you doing this, Erik?!" Logan fearfully asked.

"What do you mean, why? You know damn well why!" Erik shouted back.

In the young man's eyes, there was only pure hatred for the person in front of him, Logan. This was finally the time he would be free from pain; this was when his daily humiliations would finally end. There could have been no better revenge than taking down those who had tormented him all these years.

Logan immediately understood that there was no way he and Erik would talk things out. Besides being tired from the fight against the Lomalins and the long run along the barrier, Logan knew that he had to fight to get out of that situation.

Logan then promptly started channeling mana and conjuring a poisonous dart. He was still out of Erik's range, so the latter couldn't do much. Erik then started running, hoping to avoid Logan's shots.

He promptly hid behind a tree stopping the bully from attacking him. The latter didn't launch his mana dart; Erik was behind a tree, and getting rid of his only means of defense was suicidal.

Logan started running, and Erik immediately noticed it; he couldn't chase Logan out in the open since he would use his dart to kill him.

The young man started chasing the bully from behind the trees using them as protection from Logan's darts.

Since Erik was now stronger than before, it didn't take a lot for Erik to reach Logan again, he was a couple of meters away from him when suddenly, Logan turned around and threw the dart at his attacker.

Erik noticed the move and promptly took cover behind a tree; he knew that he would die if he got caught by Logan's darts.

Before Erik could think about what to do next, Logan took off again. But Erik wasn't going to let himself be tricked this way. He started chasing the bully again, who, in the meantime, started conjuring another mana dart.

<Analysis,> Erik thought as he looked at Logan, and a blue and white window appeared in front of the young man.

<He has much more energy than Conal and Orson,> Erik thought. Since Logan had already used a lot of his mana to fight the Lomalins and some to make the poisonous dart he just threw, Erik guessed he didn't have much mana remaining. <I can kill him!>

The chase went on, with Logan avoiding using his darts against Erik. They went past countless trees and bushes. Logan had to pay attention to the rocks and branches along the way because, if he fell, he would die. He jumped over rocks and ducked under low-hanging boughs.

Erik followed suit paying close attention to his enemy's movements. He knew that the young man was getting closer to the barrier's breach, so he had to do something to stop him from reaching it.

At the same time, though, Logan started feeling fatigued due to the long chase and the previous fight. His stamina was draining fast, and it seemed like the longer he kept up the chase, his chances of surviving slimmed.

It was the same for Erik, but he didn't feel as tired as the bully since he had more strength than him and the previous level-ups energized him. Erik got again too close to Logan, who, to put distance between them, threw his poisonous dart at the young man chasing him. Erik avoided the dart at the last moment and continued following Logan.

After a few minutes of running, Logan stopped for a breather, he was panting heavily, and his face was flushed red. He could not run anymore. Erik stopped in front of the young man and started provoking him.

"Why don't you try to shoot me?" Erik said while looking at Logan. "I know you'll dodge my shots," the bully replied. His body was shaking uncontrollably due to fear and fatigue.

Erik grinned from ear to ear. For the first time, Logan realized that his past action had consequences. This time, though, he couldn't face them.

It was then that Logan had a sort of mental meltdown, "This is not possible! Why are you so strong? You are just trash!" Logan shouted in disbelief.

"NOT ANYMORE, LOGAN."

It was then that the bully started channeling mana again, ready to make another poisonous mana dart. Though, he also realized that he didn't have enough mana to make another one, meaning that if he failed to hit Erik now, he would die.

Anxiety rapidly grew inside the young man's heart, fear spreading through his mind, almost disrupting his concentration and making him fail to conjure the dart.

Erik quickly glanced at his surroundings and noticed that the barrier's breach was just ten meters away from Logan. He had to kill him now, or everything would have been for naught.

While Logan charged his last mana dart, Erik charged at him while holding the mana-sharpened stick in his right hand.

As soon as Logan completed his dart, he shot it at the now awfully close Erik, who, at that point, had a razor-sharp focus.

He looked at the dart traveling toward him at unprecedented speed, heading directly for his heart. Everything could be said about Logan, but not that he had a bad aim.

Before the poisonous dart could hit him, Erik grabbed hold of the sharpened tree branch and swung it vertically, severing the dart in half. Even he didn't know how he was able to accomplish that feat.

Logan looked in horror as the same man he thought was a waste of space showed his superiority against him. Logan spent the last two years of his life feeling a sense of superiority that, at the last moment of his life, got crushed by whom he believed should have never been born.

His beliefs crumbled at that moment, and so did his sense of superiority. Maybe that was what hurt the young man more. Erik then raised his arm in the sky, and as a god of death, his weapon descended to claim a life, Logan's.

When the branch came into contact with Logan's body, the flesh surrounding the young bully's bones was sliced through as easily as butter, leaving the young man severed in half like a piece of meat being cut into pieces.

The sight was enough to make any people turn pale white. Blood cascaded down like a fountain, splattering onto the ground like rain.

After a few seconds of blood flowing out of Logan's body, a loud thud came as the corpse landed on the ground. Erik observed the scene carefully; it was like looking at things in slow-mo for him.

In an instant, Logan ceased to move, and all signs of life left his eyes. It was at that moment that Erik burst into thunderous laughter.
